yep - all we'll left next year will be 'the mailman'

Vandagriff will come in next year.

But, I mean there’s no good reason to pull Stetson for an unproven frosh. Bennett knows the offense. He has plenty of upside. Vandagriff should wait his turn.

That’s simply not true. You keep acting like the decision was made while Fromm was balling out when it was clearly made well before that. Kirby wasn’t going to pull Fromm no matter how poorly he played as evidenced by the LSU game.
Fromm won the spot. He was the leader of the offense. His leadership qualities were attested to by the whole team. He knew the playbook. He was praised for his study and football IQ. His bread and butter were those back shoulder passes that even NFL QBs struggle with. He could read defenses and could move our players into the right checks to be successful. He was a coaches dream. His problem was that he wasn't very quick on his feet and he didn't have a canon for an arm, but he was a proven winner.

The LSU game was an outlier. If CKS had landed on Fromm as the defacto starter before LSU, he was justified in doing so. There would be no objective reason for benching him for Fields outside of Fields being absolutely phenomenal in every aspect off the field (in practice, in the film room, etc.) as a true freshman. There just wasn't enough to justify removing Fromm.

quote:

You were spot on when you said Kirby doesn’t want a dynamic playmaker at quarterback. He want a Greg McElroy or John Parker Wilson to hand the ball off and complete 10 yard throws to tight ends.
I didn't say CKS doesn't want a dynamic QB. I said his style is predicated on game management. If a QB can do that and then add on those dynamic qualities like Fields has, then that would be a bonus. It didn't help that our OC wasn't very "dynamic" either.

quote:

The problem is that formula stopped winning national championships 10 years ago and literally every other big time head coach in college football has learned that but him. I think Kirby still thinks Fromm is the better quarterback because I think that’s how ignorant he is about what good quarterback play is.
The basis of your argument here is that the style of offense we ran wasn't capable of winning a national championship. That is false. We lost the 2018 championship game for several reasons but not having a dynamic QB wasn't one of them. We most certainly could have/should have won that game with the offense that you are claiming is capable of doing so. Would having a different QB or a different offensive strategy put us over the top? Perhaps, but that isn't what is in question. We nearly won it all with that vanilla, hard-nosed offense and it came down to essentially a blown coverage play on defense that ended it for us.

I’ve been surprised at how bad he’s been. A few times it’s almost as if he’s not paying attention.

I know he played collegiately, and got famous through the Bachelorette, but there is very much a reason he’s calling the noon game on the SEC Netwoek, and that’s probably even too much.

JT Daniels is probably going to transfer

So will Mathis if he can't get another shot.

My worst nightmare is arguing Stetson v Brock this time next year with folks citing how well Stetson played v Florida in 2020 as the reason we shouldn't play the more talented kid.

If we had someone the quality of Vandagriff right now, they’d be starting.

It's debatable, but yes, there are a lot of fans that don't seem to understand football.

Because Newman was supposed to be the starter this year. Daniels was going to always be the back up this season.

As a potential back up for Netwon if he got hurt we didn't know Newton would frick off right before the season.

Can't wait for idiots like you to disappear once the game is over

Stfu.

Stetson didn’t just lead us to the NCG as a freshman

It’s apples to oranges.

Remember that time people said Stetson was enough to win the big games.
