Exactly! That’s why Fromm was visibly pissed on the sidelines and in post game interviews when they asked him about Fields.

I do blame the coaching staff for playing Fields too much. They did a disservice to the best QB on the team by trying to keep a prima donna happy, and he left anyway.

A player with attitude problems who negatively impacts other players (and the team as a whole) due to his attitude is a cancer in my book.

Yes, but when they put their ego above the team they play for, they become a cancer and an overall liability.

You have no idea what his attitude was.

Again, you have no clue that happen. You're just hating on the kid for wanting to play and being pissed when he didn't. You can't possibly know what his attitude and work ethic was week to week.

The evidence points to a bad attitude that put himself above the success of the team.

1. Already mentioned, but His frustrated comment about handing the ball off instead of getting to play like he wanted.

2. His father giving an interview with ESPN last year when parents are asked not to so that the team can send a message as one voice. His father even hinted that Smart needs to be open to benching Fromm like Bama did with Hurts in that interview. This gives some insight into the Fields family and their general attitude of putting Justin ahead of the team in terms of culture and unity with the team.

3. The amount of playing time he got during the season. There was no reason to play him in the situations that we did for most of the season unless it was a product of the coaching staff feeling compelled to do so for Fields' sake (to salve his ego).

4. He went into the transfer portal before the bowl game. At least Eason waited until after the championship game was played to announce his decision to transfer. Fields entered the transfer portal before our bowl game and I'm personally convinced that his action combined with other starters sitting out was why we came out so sluggish: the "team" atmosphere was gone.

You admit he's got ego. You think every 5* player does and you use that as justification for his actions. I'm saying that his ego was bigger than his desire for the team's success and that the evidence bears that out.

There is circumstantial evidence that points to the reality of his attitude being that of one who put himself first.

Not at all. I can sympathize with talented players who have to wait their turn and don't feel like they are getting their shot to shine. That's not the case with Fields, though. His ego got in the way of reality, namely that he thought he was so awesome that he should be playing instead of a proven QB that helped lead the team to a national championship game. Yeah, the situation wasn't great for Fields, but he knew that when he signed with us.

I've never criticized his work ethic. I assume he was working just as hard as Fromm was during practices and in the film room. There's evidence that his attitude was not great, though, and that's the issue I have with him. All signs point to him putting himself above the team, and that's why I don't support him.

People, Fromm has played as well as any QB in the country.

He is an excellent QB playing within this system. Some of the assertions much of this conversation is based on are flawed.

Just because he doesn't have gaudy numbers doesn't mean he isn't as good as Fields or anyone else in the country. Does anyone really think he couldn't have had 5 TD passes in each of these games if the right plays were called?

I'm happy Fields found a place that seems right, but he's still untested and I wouldn't trade him for Fromm.

I make videos for every game, and yes, it's just Murray State, but it was a good tune up game for passing.

Serious question: what are your thoughts on Fromm?

He's a great QB. Not even the best in the SEC, however.

Everyone on here thinks he's a demigod.

It befuddles me.

Do you think Smart should have benched him for Fields last year?

No, given chemistry and momentum.

Do you?

It does suck to see Fields doing well, as we all know he was rated a comparatively superior prospect (and just may be proving it at tOSU).

Fromm is good.

He is no better than third in the SEC, maybe fourth.
