Hard to believe that people like you bothered to attend the backwoods country college called UGA...if you did.

Twice. Undergrad and later returned and got an MBA, in part to have an excuse to hang around Athens another couple of years.

We had a pretty good share of metro kids even back in my undergrad days, though. But lots of good ol' boys from my undergrad class wouldn't even sniff getting accepted now.

With almost 50% of the students coming from metro Atlanta nowadays, and SATs etc. averaging what - 1360 or something? - kind of hard to call it a backwoods country school, isn't it?

We did what we were supposed to do. We flattened the curve. Now they’re trying to lock us down until there’s a cure... for a coronavirus... seems like there would be a cure for the common cold if a cure was possible. It’s also a coronavirus.

Shhhh. Please do not bring your opinions in here that differ from the butt bunker buddies and the MSM. Please ignore that more than 50% of all the deaths are from nursing homes where people were going to die soon anyways. Forget how many people are being tagged as COVID death despite the actual cause of death. Please forget the avg age of death is 79, while average age infected is 48 years old. Please forget about the “we need 2 weeks to flatten the curve” from the specialists and epidemiologists everyone wants to hear from. Please forget that the regular flu has only seen 5,000 cases since COVID. Get down in the bunker with the butt buddies unless you are going out for the only accepted exception, to protest. Thank you and see you in 2022 when only a few of us will be left on earth

They are trying to make it happen, there is still 1-1.5 months to make that decision 100%.

By that time, teams being together will have provided more info. More public schools will be making their student coming back decisions.

The people making this decision do NOT want to shut it down. For now, you will hear from these pro-Covid shutdown politicians.

We need to curve to stay flattened. The only way shut downs will happen again is if idiots refuse to wear masks and the curve gets out of control. The blame for that would be on those people, not politicians .

Which it very well might so many people refusing to wear a mask because they think if they do it'll automatically make America some 1984 Orwellian dystopia. Plenty of other countries are doing just fine now because they shut down and they actually put on masks.

Also doesn't help that our idiot president keeps telling all his Jonestown followers that masks are bullshite

Yep, that is why. Masks help prevent spread which is why medical practitioners wear them.

Well maybe your boy Biden and his handler Kamala Harris will save us all. God help us if this demented old man gets elected.

I don't wear one outside of work unless I'm somewhere that requires them. I had an IgG drawn last week that was negative so I've never had it. Please oh wise logistics man, explain how it's possible that I'm transmitting something I've never had by not wearing a mask.

So because you tested negative a week ago that gives you some sort of pass from needing to wear a mask? Is that really your thinking here?

My thinking is washing your hands and not being on top of people is enough. I think that because that's how droplets work. What exactly do you think me wearing a mask does if I don't have it?

May I ask what medical field you specialize in? You seem to really have this figured out, so you must have a medical degree, I’m just trying to figure out what field so I can better take your information into perspective. Considering you are speaking counter to literally every medical professional on earth here, I am genuinely curious.

I'm a nurse. I've had plenty of face to face contact with COVID-19 positive patients and have a pretty solid grasp on how I should protect myself and others from infection. Also, 99% of health care professionals I know in real life are pretty similar in their blatant disregard for mask wearing.

Please, though, keep acting like the masks are what's preventing this and not social distancing. 90% of patients that I've taken care of that have been positive wear masks. Probably a third of those also wear gloves. Meanwhile, my non wearing mask in public self has somehow managed to not get it yet. Weird, right?

Free tip of the day - if you're wearing a mask because you think it prevents YOU from getting it, you're wearing it for the wrong reason. If someone is close enough to get droplets on your face, it'll also be absorbed by your conjuctiva so you're going to get it. If you're also wearing eye protection in public, you're fricking weird but probably safer. If you're wearing a mask for public safety, good for you.

Depending on the mask, it potentially keeps you from getting it. Normal people in public can't avoid being closer than advised at all times, even if briefly.

I've worn my N95 mask for several months. If I attended a football game I would wear my respirator and goggles. Go Dawgs.

It’s the people who do have it that spread it without a mask, of course more likely to people who are without a mask. Remember, A group of idiots is worse than a single idiot.

Why did they tell us not to wear masks at first? It’s about compliance not safety. A mask doesn’t do shite. Otherwise they’d tell people not to wear the masks that are sold on social media that have a fricking EXHALE VALVE. What are those masks doing to keep people “safe”?
