UGA is a top 5-7 program in the nation. We really don’t know who would be interested in the job, but I can assure you that we’d have a nice list of candidates. Would they be upgrades? Maybe not on paper, but on the field is a remain to be seen situation.

Yea, great coaches are going to be lining up to coach at a school who fires the guy who wins 9-10 games a year.

It will take a complete revamping of the culture at UGA to reach the status of elite program....and I ain't sure we really want the luggage of what that culture change would mean. Do we really want to sale out like Auburn? Do we really want to continually mislead recruits like Saban? Do we want a fan base so idiotic that we shoot one another because we aren't upset enough over a loss or go out and poison a landmark because of our hatred for an opposing program? Do we want to have a Lane Kiffen? Does anyone seriously doubt that both ole miss and cow state ain't about to be on some serious probation?

There is simply too much going on in Georgia for us to be an elite program. It just isn't that pressing like it is in Alabama and Oklahoma. Atlanta is comprised of people from all over the world.....most of the people in the Empire State of the south are not talking about UGA and GT on July 4th.....CFB is a pastime in Georgia and not the definition of who the state is like it is in some places. That is never going to change, thank goodness.

Richt must go. He is not a great or even a good coach. He just thumped by the worst UF team in 30+ years.

He is 0-2 after the bye this year. As long as you morons keep supporting him UGA will never have any meaningful success.

I agree there is a chance we could fall back to the Ray Goff era. But I think we are somewhat protected from that scenario with fertile recruiting grounds. Like I said, we could hit a home run or strike out. I’m of the mentality, screw mediocrity, let’s swing for the fences.

I would disagree with you here.

ND
USC
Ohio State
Michigan
Florida
Alabama
LSU
Texas
Oklahoma

Would ALL be considered better opportunities, in my opinion. Those, I listed right off the top of my head...there may be more. Georgia fans have an unrealistic view of how much people would want to come here. We have been turned down many times in the past by coaches who went to schools not on this list. Coaches simply are not beating down the doors of Georgia wanting to come in.

Everybody keeps saying we must accept our fate of always finishing 9-3. We could still finish 10-2 this year, and if we do it would be the last 2 out of three years we have done this.

When Georgia is winning and going good, our fans get all fired up. After one win we are ready to fire everybody. It happened after SC and it is happening now. Our fans need to quit riding the heights and crashing in the valleys. We need to even things out and look at things with a clear set of eyes and assess where we are and if we are heading in the right direction. MOST, I think, would say we have made strides this year. We hired Pruitt, the defense is improved, our recruiting is going well.....by all appearances we are headed in the right direction. Yes, our record is not what we wanted, but let's give the changes time to take hold.

Whaaaaaat? Didn't Goff have those same fertile recruiting grounds? And Donan?

Not sure what your definition of mediocrity is, but when you win 80-90% of your games, I don't think that is mediocrity. It might not be what you want...but to call it mediocrity is wrong.

No argument there. But how many of those jobs will be open?

Maybe I’m overreacting, but yesterday’s performance is inexcusable. That is the second loss after a bye. It all comes down to preparation and we weren’t prepared. That is my biggest disappointment, not the L, but the execution piece.

My point is, more so now than ever, the state of Georgia produces high quality HS recruits. Mainly due to the fact it is a melting pot, and more family’s are relocating to the state over the last 20 years. Donnan was 8-4 every year, and he was fired. Richt averages out to 9-3 if I’m not mistaken, and he can do wrong. What exactly is the difference?

Just curious, what do you call it?

Just accept the fact that our Administration is happy with UGA being a middle-of-the-road SEC team...

Bama falls apart in the mid-2000's Shula era then is resurrected by Saban and wins 3 NCs...

AU wins one MNC w/ Gene fricking Chizik, falls apart then almost wins the MNC again last yr with Malzahn...

Tenn. fell off the face of the earth & is on their way back... Spurrier still owns UGA... Mizzou wins the SEC east in their 2nd yr in the league & will prolly win it again this year. All this has happened under our current regime...

Richt made hay when the coaching talent in the league was down. Now it’s not, and things haven’t been the same since about 2007.

Accept it for what it is, the UGA AD has ingrained in itself the acceptance that being better than average is good enough...

I just saw the highlights on college football final, and the quote about Georgia was "thoroughly embarrassed, and two bad losses to two very bad teams".

We definitely turned down the same road Frank Beamer did.

We better not be ranked today.

No kidding.

People have a hard time understanding why our frustration is off the charts when we lose to crap teams. Its not like we lost to Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, etc.

If we played the in the West the past ten years I don't think Richt would be our coach still. We would be 3-5 right now if we played in the west, and on the way to a 6-6 season.

Great coaches are extremely rare. Richt is far from a great coach but I would take him over past UGA coaches like boring Dooley or complete idiots Goff and Donnan.

The recent "Charlie Brown" comparison in Rolling Stone was on target but who doesn't like and pull for Charlie Brown?

Perhaps on some distant and unlikely day Richt will know when to spike the ball and Lucy won't pull the ball away.
