UGA used quite a few creative plays/formations yesterday. Did we show too much?

Other than the misdirection end around it looked like typical UGA football to me. They just couldn’t stop us.

It seems like the first time a team runs an endaround or a reverse in a cupcake game like yesterday, the natural fan reaction is to thnk "we're showing too much."
But to answer your question, I don't know because it's really hard to say.

Is the "show too much" even a worry? Would showing a bunch make defenses have to spend time preparing for a myriad of things be just as productive?

The only thing we showed is our backup QB is suspect, so now they'll be headhunting Gunner Stockton.

Such an overrated concept. You know what counts. Execution. And experience. Doesn’t matter if you show something new if your players are so inexperienced running it they can’t execute.
I also think, the real key here is surprising opposing teams when we do creative play calls rather than it just being a surprise that we have a creative play call.

I think we saw what they wanted to show!
Those damn bubble screens actually worked, WR’s blocked and Tenn St. couldn’t get off blocks and tackle!
I remember last year the first 2 games seeing similar “vanilla” play calling against 2 no name teams. Gunner was not throwing the ball at all and when he did drop back he looked uncomfortable and take off.
Then what happened in game 3 against Tennessee? First play on offense that sideline deep route to Colby young.. and they slung it around the rest of the game!
I think Bobo/ Kirby are much more comfortable with Gunner and are allowing him to do more..

The offense looked a lot like our standard playcalling from last year.
Which was probably the exact goal. The wrinkles and new stuff probably won’t start coming out in earnest until Oklahoma

I mean we showed basically nothing in the downfield passing game. Very basic. We also had young guys in super early. Yesterday went exactly how we wanted it to. Dominate with room to get better.

Bingo. Tenn St. couldn't shed our blocks. That's how good screens & RB draws can look when every man is hitting his assignment

You would have to figure that if we showed it, we want our real foes to have to plan for it.... still plays we have run forever, lots of misdirection.

Every team we play will have to think about those plays as they prepare for games against Georgia. Overthinking has cost many teams a win every year. But Kirby has called time-out a few times when he remembered something an opponent has done in the past.
