Besides Sammy who do they have.

Sammy Watkins, Cherone Peake, and Martavis Bryant are all talented receivers. They did lose all of their TEs for our game though and that's good. Just one less thing to worry about.

Yep, you sound just like redcoat, deeprig. Since when did
you become representative of our fanbase? I can promise you this, no one will bleed red and black more than me, and no matter what, I will still be a glass half full UGA fan. Glad to see you're making good friends among the gamecock bretheren also. Anyways, in two weeks, we will see who calls the shots better on this game.

And just to remind you, Swann got burned by Amari Cooper last year, he is our best corner that we know of, but he isn't exactly all-SEC.

So because he got beat on a play last year that makes him not worthy of being all sec? Hate to break it to you but Swann is an all sec talent. He's one of the best cover corners in the league.

1. Cooper is hands down the best WR in the nation. Yes better than Boyd. So, to say "swann got beat by cooper on ONE play" is like saying "Jarvis jones got blocked by Cyrus Kouandjio once so be must not be that good". It's going to happen. Cooper is one of the most explosive players in the country. It's going to happen.

2. Swann is all SEC talent for sure. He'll be all over the field. If we need him on Sammy, then we'll put him on Sammy.
3. Dawson is nearly as good as swann. You guys haven't seen it yet but he is. He is an interception machine.

We'll be fine. They're going to score some points. Just remember, we don't have to hold them under 30. He'll, they can score 45 and we still have a damn good chance at beating them.

Yup... I saw Deion Sanders get beat once, cost the Cowboys a game.... Sanders sucked....

Swann is all sec talent. but not because of his man to man cover skills. it's because of everything else (he can blitz, he can step up and stuff the run, he can get a jump ball, he finds himself around the ball).

There is more than one way to make a name for yourself as a corner.

It wasn't 1 play, he was consistently getting burned by the better players he went up against.

Like, say, Sammy Watkins.

Swann...53 tackles...3 fumbles caused, 2 fumbles recovered...3 sacks...2 interceptions...5 TFL... 9 pass breakups...(#3 in the SEC, 12PBU's)... A Sophomore last year...

Looks like he never made a play last year...fricking stat hog...

Solo tackles by a cornerback are not a good indicator of quality cover skills.

Among all of our cornerbacks last season, he was the one picked on most by OCs and QBs.

With the freshmen alongside him, that probably won't be the case in 2013. But know that opposing offenses weren't afraid of him.

In swann's defense (2013), sanders commings was probably picked on most in 2011 and he looked great when qb's threw his way.

Guys do improve under coach lakatos.

And no one said they were... I was just laying out his stats for last year...His Int.'s, PBU's, Sacks, TFL's, Fumb. caused & Fumb. recovered are more indicative of how disruptive he was on "D" & how well he played...

Firewind, where have you been? You and Swin make it feel like the old days at the DR. I still feel like this first game will look a lot like laast years Mizzou game. Close until 4th quarter. GO DAWGS!!!!!

Well... you have 4 INTs and 9 pass breakups if you are talking about his cover skills.
Everything else falls in line with what I'm saying (his non-cover skills are what makes him great).

And if you watch all 4 of his INTs, they are in zone coverages. 2 throws right at him (florida and nebraska), 1 tip drill (tennessee), and one where he makes a great break on the ball covering a deep third on a floater(nebraska).

If you're depending him to be a lockdown corner, you are probably asking too much. If you're asking him to be around the ball and disruptive, you've got a potential All SEC CB on your hands.

If we had a Clowney-esque player in Deloach then Deloach would've played more last year. I'm a little optimistic about what our defense will be this year but this is plain old retarded.

Swann concerns me. Everyone talks him up and he made plays last year but he also stood in one place confused while people were scoring. It happened in the Nebraska game quite often and the Alabama game more than a few times. I hope Grantham dumbs down his scheme a little so Swann can figure out his assignment before his assignment goes all Amari Cooper on him and leaves him scratching his arse during the play. Especially week one when he's not playing his natural position and has to make different reads.

I just re-watched that game and I don't remember Swann being an issue on the TDs.
He missed a tackle here or there, but those just added a few yards after the catch.
Overall, he played very well.

The Bama game is another story.

I have one example running through my head right now but I can't think of which one of their TDs it was. They were in the redzone, he actled like he was going to blitz then backed out of it and just stood there and hopped in cricles while the receiver opposite him ran his route with no one covering him and caught the TD. I'll watch it again when I get home. He looks lost to me often but I think that's more the scheme than his ability. When he knows where he's supposed to be he's great. I'm not questioning his skills...just his knowledge of where he's supposed to be.
