Delusional.net

Check out this gem. Maybe it's just a flame thread for the dawg fans on their site, but I've seen quite a few comments like this on t-net. Some of the posters over there are pretty realistic. Some not so much.

Kinda funny that both sides don't think they'll just win but kick the shite outbid the other

I personally think Georgia is more talented but they'll obviously frick around in a way that keeps it close.

We all have our idiots and crackpots. Clemson just has a greater wealth of them than the rest of us.

They said they're going to stop Gurley

They couldn't do that last year and he was injured

Fat, slow DLine

This one was hilarious to me. Our D-line is anything but and will be our strength this year.

They're probably going off of last years d-line, but that was my thought. The front seven will be our obvious strength.

They don't have a clue. Pruitt is the major advantage against them. His FSU D held them to either 7 or 3 can't remember which. As long as you can get penetration and make tackles in space we will be fine.
Nobody in the country is going to slow down TG so that's a non-issue, and if all mason has to do is work off play action then we will roll on offense like we have have for the last 7 years.
As long as the UGA faithful show up in full affect we will be fine.

So you think Pruitt can do the same thing with our defense that he did with fsu and if so what makes you think that?

I don't think we'll get the same D production as FSU did, simply because we don't have what they did last year, we are razor thin in teh secondary, and we're essentially having to start from square 1, instruction wise.

However, look at last year's numbers between us and FSU against clemson. Keep in mind, ours was in teh first game so we had 8 months to gameplan and we had a relatively well stocked unit (relative to this year anyway).

CU 2013 averages/vs FSU/vs UGA:
Rushing- 175/123/197
Passing-333/203/270
Scoring- 40/14/38

Last year, we let CU surpass their rushing average, we held them 60 yds below their passing avg, and right at their scoring average.

FSU on teh other hand, held them to 50 yards below their rushing, 130 below their passing, and 25 below their scoring. Sure FSU's D last year was better than ours, but those numbers didn't happen simply because they had a few more athletes on defense. It's remarkable what having a competent and capable coach can do for a unit.

Last year Todd Grantham had never seen any film on clemson before in his life. Pruitt has broken down game film on them less than 12 months ago, and he was incredibly successful.

I'm not saying we're gonna win easily, but I don't see any way you can look at this game on paper and say we don't have the decided advantage. They dont' have Boyd, they don't have Watkins and Bryant, they lost their #1 RB, they lost a key piece or 2 from defense, and it's not at death valley at night. Everything about this game, with the one exception of our safeties, points decidedly in our favor.

Good points. I'm not being pessimistic I just don't expect the same kind of production that he had at fsu but I do expect major improvements on all levels of defense.

scheme wise, we will see an improvement. He found something last year that made it easy for them, and yes our secondary is thin but I didn't see Pruitt singing the praises for any of those dismissed players. He is good with the personal we have, and that is coming in, and I will have faith that with a decent defense we can win a lot of games. I agree that Pruitt hasn't done anything yet, with us, but can it really be any worst? He is preaching fundamentals and toughness, and that sounds like the serminum we needed.

That's bc the clemson fans on that site suffer from self-righteous syndrome. They act like clemson is the epitome of doing things the right way.

Stop it.

Really.

Do you really believe Grantham had never seen any game film of Clemson and/or didn't know what they'd do offensively?

ETA: I think UGA lays one on Clemson by winning the LOS on both sides and a David Green-esque passing game. But by the same token UGA didn't lose last year because Grantham hadn't watched film.
