Yeah I think we win this one by atleast 2tds. It might even be close for a min, but we will prove we are the superior team. Yeah our D lost a bunch of talent, but we just will reload! Our D line couldnt play any worse, and G Smith did great last yr, and will be a stud. KG and JJ were both too big to play full game without much rotation. I think our D line will rotate way more this year which will be great for them during the 4th quarter.

We lost 2 of the greatest LBs we've ever had, J Jones and A Olgetree, but we still have J Jenkins (beast in teh making) and Herrera who played well. So that means there are 2 open spots for someone to make a name for themselves. Our DB is our greatest worry but D Swann is a good one. If the safetys dont make too many mistakes, I think the Offense can bail them out.

who needs a FG kicker? Did we even have any games depend on the fg kicker last year? It seemed like all we did was score TDs or punt

We have the talent to win every game on our schedule this year. Now, the coaching staff on the other hand has a tendancy to shite the bed at least once a year, let's hope it's not Clemson.........

I can see a 45-35 kind of game. Both QBs are going to make plays, but I think Murray will get more help from the run game than Boyd will, and Clemson has an awful defensive coordinator.

They'll put him all over the field to get the ball in his hands, and they should. He's a terrific player

Yet they think he is building a power house defense.

Yeah...our offense should be pretty good this season...though we often manage to start off slow.

They didn't start slow last year, and this could be the best offense we've ever had.

I'm looking at the secondary with no Harvey-Clemons and a couple of other injuries to folks who would have played (such as Wiggins) and I'm seeing us potentially getting fried by Clemson's offense.

For one, our secondary was going to be green anyway with or without JHC, so that's unchanged. And for all the people panicking about our defense getting lit up, clemson should feel the same way. Our offense is better than theirs.

quote:

We're counting on folks like Tray Mathews who have never stepped on the field in a college game.

Clemson was getting a lot of love in the summer of 2003. We went up there with a first time starting safety (sound familiar?) being a true freshman walkon. Let that sink in for a minute...a true freshman walkon. We managed to do alright there, holding them to ooooooh 0 points.

quote:

But I'm concerned about the secondary going into this opener.

So if a guy who played LB last year and hasn't made much of an impact yet was playing safety, you'd be less concerned? The defense is going to be a question mark for the first month of the season period, regardless of who's in it. We simply don't know much about them at all at this point.

quote:

Then there's the likely absence of our kicker. This tranlates to missed extra points and field goals

Did you watch any of last season? Morgan missed more extra points than anyone I've ever seen in my life. Having a different kicker doesn't bother me.

quote:

Combine above with Death Valley effect on younger players

their younger players are going to be playing the same game. And as mentioned, it sure didn't hurt us in 03 playing up there with:

5 (FIVE) new offensive lineman. ALL OF THEM
3 (THREE) new starting linebackers. ALL OF THEM
a TFR walkon at safety
just lost our best WR in school history

and we won 30-0.

We'll be fine as long as the offense holds up their end of the bargain.

What kind of troll are you? a bad one?

Shaq wiggins isnt injured to my knowledge.
You probably mean wilkerson.
Shaq and Langley will be pushing eachother for playing time.
We'll be OK.

Agree. I think after losing most of our defense, UGA is hugely overrated.

If we are going to shite the bed at least once lets hope it is Clemson, don't get me wrong I don't want to lose any games but if we lose early we can run the table and get back in the picture.

With this not being a conference game it won't change anything as far as winning the conference goes, and if we run off 10 or 11 in a row we might just be sitting in the catbird seat.

The taters are really buying that shite by the ton. Ask any of them what Coach V's Total Defense rankings were after Stoops left and for his first defense last year. You can even look it up yourself on ncaa.org. When Stoops was there runnning the D, they were consistently in the Top 10 in Total D. After he left, they cracked the Top 25 for Total Defense once, and hung around ranked in the 50's for the next 6 seasons.

Coach V rode Stoops coattails for years, they weren't sorry that he left and the only publication that said they tried to get him to stay or offered him more money to stay was Orange and White (which was a clemson publication and that rumor was never even confirmed.)

They'll find out after his third season when their defense is still shite.

frick the taters!

They are a garbage team, in a garbage conference, with a garbage head cheerleading coach, and orange sucks.

A lot of guys on the defense were hugely overrated to begin with, so I don't think having new players take over is necessarily a bad thing in this situation.

Venables' powerhouse defenses at Oklahoma gave up 55 to USC in 2005 Orange Bowl, fell for every trick play in the bag against Boise State, and wildly underachieved just about every season. Bob Stoops lost a lot of his mojo when Mike Stoops left and he hired Venables. And let us not forget the second half collapse against Florida State.

Well...I'm not so sure I'm buying into the predictions that this game won't even be close...that Clemson played no one last year and the usual "they're in the ACC" stuff.

UGA has a long tradition of blowing it...especially early in the season...

Defense will be young and it might be mid-season before they have their act together. And let's face it...even with the hype and talent for last year's defense...they were mediocre last year. So first game of this year against an explosive offense? Hmmm....I don't know.

Sounds like a toss up game at best...
