Last year, I enjoyed all of his content on youtube, I enjoyed it enough to watch all of it, but not enough to subscribe to the Patreon account. Which may or may not be amazing, I don't know.

This year, something is different and I can't put my finger on it. It's hard to watch. I don't know if it is too complex or too dumbed down. I think it's a bit of both. He seems to have changed his persona to be much more of a "bro".

I struggle to get through any of his videos this year.

Yet, he now has weekly segments on Chuck and Chernoff on 680 The Fan.

He also now has a press pass to the Kirby press conferences and gets to ask questions along with Chip, Shlabagh, and my favorite Marc Weiczer or however he spells his name.

Am I falling behind or is Brooks Austin falling up?

He’s changed over time to become more persona than analyst, which I guess is the natural progression when you’re trying to make it in the pundit business.

Loved his stuff when he first started because he really put in the time to break down games, what it all meant, what were legitimate signs that we were doing something good and where our weaknesses were. My favorite part of every week were the what to expect segments about our opponents which featured the same level of detail and care as the UGA reviews (not to mention they were pretty spot on for what would play out Saturday). I credit Brooks for making me a smarter, better fan even after I had attempted reading Chris Brown and other football scheme books.

I did the patreon thing for a couple of years and gradually either outgrew it or just didn’t feel like the bits of insider info and the discord crowd were worth it (others feel different because there’s a decent showing on the discord).

Brooks has always been a Bro. The Patreon community is a close knit group. I don’t watch his videos to learn. I watch them to confirm what I’ve already noticed with the team. He’s solid when it comes to O-line play. At the same time you have to understand that he’s evaluating college kids. There is someone sh**in the bed on every play. You just have to continue to move forward.

I for one AINT worried about NO ONE the rest of the way. We are about to skull**** everyone these last 2 games. FYI, it will be TCU in the Final against us… not MEEECHIGAN

I think he’s still knowledgeable, but I think one of the most difficult things for unknown guys that come to success (I’d include Graham Coffey as well) is not letting things go to your head and I think it’s definitely happened with him.

It’s good to be confident in what you do, but I don’t need you to consistently tell me how much smarter you are than I am. That’s just my opinion, but I feel like it used to be teaching and now sometimes is talking down or “look at how smart I am”

Fwiw, I still like him a lot. I just think he’s come off a little differently now than he used to come off.

Totally agree, this is definitely a factor. He is much more uppity now, like he's craving a booth job. And good for him I guess, if he gets it. Climb the ladder and do what you have to do. But his youtube content has just become off-putting.

Totally random and out of left field, but as I was typing that, the song "Day Dream Believer" by the Monkees just popped into my head.

I don't know whether or not it means anything, but it is a red flag.

Videos are good.
He definitely put in a ton of time when he first started on the videos.

He kind of slaps them together now (and gets through a lot less plays).

I still enjoy them. I was paying by the year when I first started. I pretty much just do the regular season now.

I don't do the bro vibe (discord). But that's just not my thing. I'm sure it works with a big part of his audience.

I think he, like most others, tries to find a theme and then present evidence to prove it, even if that means ignoring facts to the contrary. Plus, he kinda comes off like the guy at the gym who sells steroids.

I really enjoyed his videos last year and the level of detail regarding different plays, techniques and schemes he brought to the table. Seems like his content has been lacking….but I just assumed it’s because he’s catering to his patreon subscribers.

His bro persona/ego is insufferable.
