You remember the first two years he was the OC and he was struggling. After that he was great and beloved.
This. He came into his own in his last few years here. Still, if he could put together such great playcalling, why did he flame out at CSU?

Being a head coach at CSU is a fundamentally different job than being a coordinator at UGA.

There's a hell of a lot more to do as a head coach than play calling and game planning.

No doubt. And I'm sure he'd love to walk into the talent pool we have now. Just would figure that he would have had a big hand in their offensive scheming and I can't think of a time when they've been mentioned for their offensive prowess.

remember the pure hell Bobo got from Georgia fans while he was the OC.
Now, he appears to be the savior for our offensive woes. Puzzling?
The criticism waned drastically as he matured as an OC. It is inarguable that he was one of the better OCs in the country at the end of his stint as OC at UGA, hence the offer from CSU.
Plus, imagine Bobo with the talent we’re bringing in now!

I understand that. But it hasn't stopped guys like Saban and Kirby from having a big role in the defensive schemes in their head coaching careers thus far.

When the play calling was bad I wanted a change, but now it's been improving. Could it be worth seeing what Coley becomes in the next few seasons?
Continuity definitely matters so I'd also like to know if Bobo is just a rental or he's here long term.
Is Mike coming in as a consultant and QB coach? OC? How much autonomy will he have? Obviously, an extra hand in recruiting is always a good thing - especially now that the highest end QB prospects seem to be shying away from Athens.
Is this just some shite for fans to pine for without thinking, or is this something real? Is there any real reporting or just speculation?
Anyway, I'm withholding judgement as you can deduce.

I can’t imagine the UGA OC position not being at the top of Bobo’s list. So one would think it’s up to Kirby to do the right thing.

The pessimist in me feels like we’re gonna be sitting here next year saying, “we could’ve had Bobo.”

I’m not sure how you handle this if Kirby wants to hire him. Can’t fire Coley on the eve of the SEC Championship and, if we win, you sure can’t fire him going into the playoffs.
What if we win it all with Coley? You still fire him?

The tough decision is either anticipating someone leaves or demoting someone to make Bobo QB coach and co-OC (and making Coley OC only as he is currently assigned to QBs). Already at the 10 coach limit so something has to give

Only way I could see it working is Kirby tells Mike to come in now as an analyst with the opportunity to move into a coaching role in the Spring after the dust settles (teams are going to come after McGee and Pittman and Schumann and probably Lanning)

I predict Coley goes to FSU in same role and we get Bobo

I think this game is Coley's last test, if he calls a bad game Kirby will be calling Bobo right after the game.

Do you think we're going to move to a LSU/ Clemson style offense in the future regardless of who the OC is next season?

If there is a Bobo deal, it is already done I would bet.

Doesn't Bobo have some kind of medical issue? Maybe that's why he's stepping down?

and that "better QB shying away from Athens thing" will change immediately if he does come home

fire? no
demote? yes
why would we not want the best man for the job? just because the guy he is replacing did OK?
