Freakout much? The dude started every game for us last year and will this year. Good trade off and he will be a first rounder.

It is true. He needs to see the light or he may well not get past next year at UGA...

Xzavier Ward had an outstanding spring and Friend is using that motivate the rest of the OL starters. Theus is currently 2nd at RT but is hands down our most talented lineman. This is a common coaching tactic to use if you feel that your starters might begin to feel a little safe and complacent. If one of them slacks off then Ward will stay at RT, Theus could move to LT, Gates could move back to Guard, and Lee or Burnette could move to Center.

In the end, Theus will be back as a starter at RT and he'll hold it as long as he's healthy. Ward will likely get quality PT to prep him for filling in at RT when Theus moves to LT next year.

Isn't Gates best suited for Guard?

I hope your wrong.

Hopefully Ward is that good and will start at RT.

Gates is much better suited to play guard.

Gates is a versatile guy, just like Cordy Glenn was. I think he is a very good guard but is also our best all around tackle at the moment. We have solid interior depth at the moment with Lee/Burnett/Beard/Andrews, while Cardiello had a good spring and Kublanow is now on campus. Experience at OT is much harder to come by in this group. Gates and Theus are the only 2 with starting experience, Long and Ward have minimal experience. While DeBell seems to have turned a corner, he's a total unknown.

tl;dr- Gates needs to stay at tackle.

I detect a hint of sarcasm.

Gates already proven he can't handle Clowney.

I vote we give somebody else a try.

Not freaking out big dawg, I'm so chill I'm wearing a fricking Kimono as I type this.

I wasn't saying that their package deal was a success or failure, there has not been enough time to proclaim such. Just saying shite aint sunshine and rainbows right now considering homeboy has decided to act out like a fricking diva. Hopefully he will get his head out of his arse before the season, but only time will tell.

Did Theus line up against Clowney last year, if so how many times?

Who was trying to block Clowney on this play? He shouldn't be allowed to try that again.

Back to this Austin Long guy, has he indeed been suspended? I never saw a p.r. from the school.

Gates is one of the more over-rated players on the team.

He's been a 3 year starter. Unfortunately for him... he's lost his starting position each of the last 3 years.

He's a guard. Like a lot of UGA offensive linemen, he has gotten playing time because we didn't have quality starting depth (forget backups... we've had a run of poor starters on the OL for several years).

Shitty attitude? Tell more. Haven't heard that at all. Dude started as a true freshman and his bro will be a great LS.
