As long as Gates doesn't play LT I'm good. He and Beard are in the same boat. They can play everywhere but may not be good enough to start.

*** Kind of ominous response from Kenarious Gates when asked by a reporter today if Austin Long is working out with the team right now (amid reports of a potential academic issue that could impact his availability this season). “I can’t discuss that,” Gates said. “That’s something you’d have to discuss with Coach Richt.”

Shitty attitude? Tell more. Haven't heard that at all. Dude started as a true freshman and his bro will be a great LS.

Obviously the dude has immense talent, hell he was a 5 star recruit and FR All American. I would be an idiot to debate that. From what I have heard during winter workouts/spring he just became lazy and self entitled. ex. taking plays off, loafing through drills, not giving 100% in workouts etc.

He wasn't demoted to number two on the depth chart because someone better came along and beat him out, he was demoted because he was being an a-hole. Hopefully he will see the light and stop his douche baggery.

I actually got a chance to talk to Mark Beard a day ago and he did say that Austin Long was academically ineligible. He also introduced me to Jonathan Rumph and mentioned that he was playing as a WR and TE. Anyone know about this? Would be interesting to see.

Radi said it's not official, but Long will be ineligible this season barring an appeal.

He's probably depressed and needs to get on some brain meds. 18-19 year old suddenly quits giving a shite and dragging arse and skipping class, completely outside of his character, there are some issues going on that I hope get dealt with and not ignored or worse, punished.

You can't feel too sorry for him when it's something like grades, all those guys know if you don't make 'em you ain't playing. In '09 we had a Safety, Emanuel Cook, who took that Fall semester off and ruined his chance of returning. He got picked up by the Jets and played for them and Baltimore until he broke his leg last May.
