Are all Dentists a scam?

Used to you could get two quality cleanings per year the dental hygienist would do the cleanings and then the dentist would come in and pick over things and say if you have any cavities.
I have bounced around to probably 5-6 different offices over the past few years trying to find this level of service in Gwinnett and can't.
I think the good places just don't take insurance and cater to the upper class? Idk
Everywhere I go now, you get one good cleaning from hygienist and then the second visit is a half arse job from the dentist and his "assistant" who he gets to pay less than a hygienist, polishes and flosses...I asked the dentist today if I had any cavities and he said I didn't see any but we didn't do X-rays so couldn't confirm.
A joke.

maybe go somewhere with less immigrants and refugees that don't speak the language.
Every dentist I've ever had in my life does 2 cleanings a year at no cost (at the visit) since it's fully covered by my insurance, checks cavities, does the flouride, checks for cancer or abnormal stuff, etc. Sounds like you're just picking shitty ones.

Lol what the frick...such an aggressive response.
Are you saying the dentist does your cleanings?
Yes, normal dental insurance covers two cleanings per year. My gripe is that one cleaning is proper and the other is half arse.
I'm going to places in Suwanee and Johns Creek. These aren't migrant dental trailers lol
The last great dentist I had was in oconee that I used when I was in school.

Pretty much. Dentistry should be completely regulated.... This franchised dentistry is worse than used car sales men... They just do things not covered by insurance and hand you a bill at the end.... There should be a law requiring full disclosure of any thing the dentists does that will include above and beyond charges.

Gwinnett County. That’s your first problem. Gwinnett’s been on a negative trajectory for at least the last 20 years.

Good Lord, sorry I asked.

I bounced from shitty dentist to shitty dentist for years.
I was referred to Cumming Dental and have been happy for the past 15 years.
My dentist does not take new patients. My wife and kids are with other dentists within the practice and I have no opinion on them.
I understand the frustration. But a good dentist is like a good mechanic. Once you have trust, appreciate how valuable that relationship is.

Im still in the shitty pcp conundrum. I had a good one in Holly Springs but thought I could do better without the hour drive. I am open to suggestions on the 400 corridor.
Edit to add: my last 2 pcp were bad but good enough with the 15-30 minute commute. Both ended up closing their doors in the last 3 years.

It is ..I should have never left the oconee dentist looking back. He sold the practice not too long after I left due to health reasons but my dental hygienist was amazing. I miss her.

Agreed. I've skipped the fluoride treatments for the last 5 years and haven't had a single cavity. Same dentist for that time and same hygienist for 25.
The only thing I've had to pay out of pocket for has been a crown done back in the spring of this year.

Go to Athens Dental Associates.

When flouride toothpaste became a thing, dentist started making less money due to fewer cavities so they started having to do more cosmetic stuff. Many dentists will try to steer you to implants rather than doing crowns because that's where the money is. Always follow the money.

Seems like they are trying to cut costs with hiring actual hygienist now too.
I had a 850 appointment and was out in my vehicle by 915. My mouth has felt cleaner when I brush and scrap my tongue at night. Sucks cause my first visit with them was pretty good.

My old pal Leghumper did $10k of work for me and charged me $1.5k because he was good at cheating the insurance companies.
He was awesome.

This should be all healthcare providers. Not just dentists.
