Homey gonna end up at Miami and blow out a bunch of bums and people will realize this dude has some talent. He hasn't put it all together yet but he's better than QBs that have never played for one - in the SEC and two- these guys riding the bench. I'm critical of Arch because he gets sloppy with the ball sometimes and that's coachable. The arm talent and ability is there. Turn him into a QB that doesn't play reckless and you got yourself a player.

What QB has Sark developed since he has been at Texas?

so your argument is "he's been in a system for 3 years now with zero development at all and has numbers that barely eclipse mediocre, but he can come here for 1 year and be the best option we have in one offseason", do I have that right?

let's be honest if the dude's name was Bill Jones nobody would GAF, I think we all know that. Salivating over a guy that is average as grits simply because his uncle and dad were good at football is just weird as hell.

My argument is our system and coaching will be better than his current system and coaching. It has nothing to do with him being a manning..I could say the same thing that if he was bill jones you probably wouldn't be such a hater about him

He has flashed great potential as a thrower, can hurt teams with his legs, and has experience which is huge for the current environment. I guarantee you if Arch reaches out Kirby would be open to bringing him into the fold. Would be foolish not to.

likely so. Why not apply this same thought to dozens of other QBs out there?

I'm not hating on him, I'm pointing out the objective fact he hasn't produced much and his stats are lousy. I don't want Bill Jones just like I don't want Arch Manning

psssst...so has Puglisi

totally agree and it's an area we will be sorely lacking after this season. Whcih is why I'm confident we'll scour the portal to see if we can get a QB for 2027. Hopefully one better than Arch.

it'd be even more foolish to take him becuase of his notoriety and not kick the tires on a dozen other QBs that will inevitably be in the portal.

Who are the dozens of other QBs that have two years of SEC experience or just general big game experience that will be in the portal?

I think Arch presents an opportunity to save money too. With his family I think he would more open to coming to UGA without killing the NIL budget. In fact that is the perfect Manning family media opportunity. Arch took less money at UGA to make the team better. He's a selfless leader...yadda yadda. It also presents an interesting opportunity to improve our perception regarding QBs. If Arch comes and we can flip him into a 1st round draft pick, that banks some credit for Bobo and Kirby that we could use with future transfers

I'm a Pugs guy but he hasn't shown what Arch has vs real competition. He hasn't the opportunity to, but still...arch has started road games in the SEC and other big environments.

We really don't know how Pugs would react starting on the road, or after a pick, etc

I agree that Arch would likely be a budget friendly option.

I’ll believe that UGA pays $5M+ for a better QB when I see it.

Who knows. You don't even know if Arch will be in the portal! There aren't any QBs in the portal yet...yet somehow amazingly every year there are high profile ones in there.

You've admitted he has 3 years of zero development. So in one year we're turnign him from John Mateer into a 1st rounder? Waht if we don't and he still stinks, what then?

but still...arch has started road games in the SEC and other big environments.

yes, experience again. You seem to be making your whole argument based on the fact he's experienced. Any portal QB we go after will also be experienced.

Yeah I think the whole point of the thread is a hypothetical lol

What other QBs do you have your eyes on? You seem sure there are better options out there so I'm curious...the Cal QB will probably demand an arm and a leg and Kirby won't go for that. Same for Kamario. The Arch discount, if open to that, would be a big part of the equation to Kirby I bet.

Zero development? My.point was that you're crowning Sark as a QB whisperer and that isn't backed up by anything besides media tropes. Arch can still develop regardless of the coach. I think he is better than when he is a freshman. If he comes and sucks here, it's not like it will hurt our non-existent perception at QB. The good possible outcomes outweigh the bad by a lot.

SEC experience is different than ACC or non power 4.

buddy I'm not in the recruiting office so I don't have a clue. It would kinda help if we knew which QBs were actually in the portal instead of guessing which ones may or may not be.

I am nearly certain there will be better QBs that Arch in the portal yes. They probably won't come here because if they're elite they will go somewhere that will pay them more than we will.

link? Show me where I've said that anywhere at any point in history. I'll spare you the time- you can't because i haven't. What I did say is that he's a "supposed offensive guru". He's known for offense. He is notorious for poor QB development, so I would certainly never claim he's a QB whisperer. Despite having the best portal WR and best portal RB and being in a system known for offense...Arch is still mediocre. That isn't a good sign.

3 years ago some of the best QBs in the portal were from Duke, UCLA, and Washington State. 2 years ago two of the best were from Tulane and Cal (won heisman). Last cycle the best ones were from Arizona State and Duke. It's quite clear that you don't have to come from bama or ohio state to be really good at QB. Also worth noting that all of those guys mentiond above balled out at those lesser schools, which is how/why they ultimately ended up landing at a big time school. Arch is alreayd at a big time school and hasn't shown anything.

Im not asking for a scouting report on the QBs lol I just assumed you could name some other QBs you would want over aech since you said there would dozens of them available

Sark was brought up by you as a point to say Arch has all this going for him and still sucks. Maybe I went to hyperbolic on your opinion on Sark but now you're saying you think he a poor QB developer...so which is it? If Sark is a bad QB developer, why wouldn't you want to buy low at Arch?

Your boy Mateer was highly prized. How is he doing in the SEC? Leavitt is okay with Kiffin but has also turned the ball over a lot and lost two games already. The others transfer to non sec school and succeed but the Sec is a different animal as we know.

you seem to be forgetting or ignoring things I've actually said. Both thigns I've said are accurate:

-Sark is an offensive guy. Hired by saban and put up good numbers throughout most of his career.
-He has a reputation for not developing QBs

Both of things are true.

If Sark is a bad QB developer, why wouldn't you want to buy low at Arch?

this is just a silly quesiton in general. The biggest answer I suppose would be that we have to start from scratch and develop him from the ground up in the 1 year we'll have him. Knowing Kirby I can't imagine he would want ot do all that compared to 1) a handful of guys we already have on the team that have been developed, or 2) a different portal QB that is already polished.

he sucks, and he isn't my boy so not sure where that's coming from. The only thing I've said about him in this thread is that he's not good and his numbers are nearly idential to arch.

Yeah I mean hard to argue that Sark is an offensive guy, that is true lol

I guess we will just agree to disagree. I don't think your starting from scratch at all. There is talent there and I think a good o line, commitment to a run game, and more traditional passing concepts would help him a lot.

The mateer piece was tongue in cheek since you kept bringing him up.

It seems like Arch's confidence is shot and he needs a change of scenery. Has to remind one of Carson Beck around this same time in 2024.

Arch is a brain dead failure who can single-handedly sink a program. I don't think that the Manning family can pay Kirby enough to take him.

I don't remember Burrow being very good in 2018 then the right OC came in, and turned him into a savant.

Maybe Bobo can fix him.

Burrow ran for 2 TDs against UGA and converted 3 fourth downs with his legs leading to another 13 points.

He was never a one man show. But 27 points on his legs in 2018 against UGA was pretty damn impressive.

He was 15th in the country in 2018 in ESPN QBR.
He was 2nd in conference in QB EPA.

No. It wasnt the same statistical anomaly as 2019. But his success was easily overlooked because his completion percentage and y/a were pedestrian at best.

Back when I looked at stats, that's exactly what I looked for in QB's.
