Anyone remember this board after the 2017 Auburn game?

No chance in the rematch, Fromm needs to come out, Kirby’s overrated, etc.

Obviously Bama is a different animal than that 2017 Auburn team, but you can make adjustments and beat a team you lost to earlier in the season. Happens in the NFL all the freaking time. Don’t think we need to panic. This team is going to be as hungry as they’ve ever been for the Michigan game, then if we play Bama again, they’ll have that same desire the 2017 team had in the SECCG. Bama might even feel a little overconfident.

That's honestly where I'm at for the time being.

I feel like they are going to come out guns blazing.

Healthier Pickens (less AD snaps); healthier Chris Smith and Nolan Smith; healthier Jamaree all make a huge difference (although I thought Jamaree played well).

Think we got cute trying to start William Poole in his first game ever. Also, Bama not having Metchie is massive.

Granted, we have to get past a good Michigan team first. I’m not trying to dismiss that game.

I’m definitely betting good money on UGA over Michigan: 31-13 is my current prediction unless we have some injuries or set backs to current injuries

I also believe in team psychology being a factor. The SECCG was do or die for Alabama, and UGA had the rat poison of knowing it was an exhibition game. To what extent that was a factor, I don't know, but it definitely was a factor. There's only so much hooting and hollering a coach can do to hype their team up, it's up to the individuals on the team to ultimately motivate themselves.

Gus is not Saban. Not sure we can assume a 2017 turnaround is possible just because

So you won't bother watching the rest of the games then.

Not saying it will happen just because. We have to make adjustments. Thought we made some in the 2nd half, and then shutting down 1 great receiver is a lot easier than shutting down 2.

And even if we do make adjustments I’m not saying it’s a guarantee to win. I just don’t think the sky is falling.

Not only on defense not having to worry about Williams and Metchie at the same time, but on offense if we get Pickens back to speed with Bowers, that's two big play guys Bama has to worry about. Paradigm shift.

Wonder how close Nyland Green and some of the other younger DBs are to being able to play meaningful snaps. would be amazing for one of those guys to emerge and let us have Smith in safety role and a new guy play nickel. Jackson, Poole, and Brini just dont have it against those WR.

I haven’t seen Green much even in blowouts but Bullard and Lassiter have looked good

A rematch against Gus Malzahn (without his star offensive player) is a little different than a rematch with the greatest American team sport coach of all time

Not saying it’s the same thing. But the level of panic is the same thing. Kerryon also played in that game, and if we make that Natty and play Bama, Metchie being out is almost as important.

Michigan defense is very physical and solid. We will have to play a near perfect offensive game.

This whole do or die mindset is a main reason we lost last year to Florida. By the cocktail party they already had one conference loss and they came in knowing if they lost that game to us they were out of the East race the first week of November. They had nothing to lose and we were limping in at the time having just lost LeCounte the weekend before and I believe Davis as well with his elbow injury. It was the perfect storm for them, even with Mullen as head coach. Trying to take on a Bama team with that same mindset and Saban running the show it just seemed doomed from the start (regardless of our 10-0 lead).

This is where I'm sitting. They have no reason to fear UGA, at this point.

Bama was fighting for survival in the Benz. Unfortunately, we had the knowledge of the 12-0 season acting as a safety net, and apparently it was laced with rat poison.

All we're guaranteed is Michigan. Gotta handle business in the Orange Bowl and go forward from there.

It would be different if we played flawless and lost.

We played our worst game of the year. There is plenty to work on, starting with the blown coverages I the secondary.

Conversely, Bama played nearly perfect.

It's pretty easy to assume we can play better and they may not play perfectly again.

I'd be much more concerned about a rematch if we didn't wet the bed.
