Richt firing is the hot topic and Finebaum says that UGA fans don't want "the Alabama way" they want the "Georgia way". basically, we were happy to have what we did. they had a woman call in furious that we fired Richt because he was a "good man".

do the majority of UGA fans want the Georgia Way? perhaps i stay on the boards too much to find that the case. but most UGA fans i talk to wanted him gone. just can't believe Finebaum said this.

Some bat shite evangelical woman called in disarray because Richt was fired.

Larry from Tuscaloosa called right after and basically called her an idiot.

He interviewed an agent from one of the coaching search firms earlier today. Which was really fascinating and educational. Lots of interesting info and insight into the process.

But, you're too cool for that kind of thing obviously.

I was thinking you listened in to observe the shenanigans, similar to watching a nature show.

I can't say much, I used to listen to Colin Cowherd a few years ago.

There are so many nut jobs calling about Mark Richt. I had no idea the majority of his fans weren't football fans. It's like listening to members of a cult call in. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Richt fan, but this was about results.

People I know who are upset about Richt being fired have universally said these two things, pretty much like this:

"That's not right - he is a good man who lived his Christianity!"

and

"UGA was doing good enough in football..what do people expect? You can't win all the time."

I think it's just a different mentality...they view the coach's job as winning at more than an average rate - but not needing to be elite. And the fact that he's a good and ethical guy is important to them...

Prior to 2001, Georgia was 14th in winning % in CFB. 63%

From 2001-2015, Georgia is 9th. 73% In that time, Florida, Alabama, and Fla State are 11, 12, and 13.

Beating teams like Charleston Southern multiple games each season pad those stats. I get it that everyone plays those games, but we sucked at winning the games we shouldn't and lost an arse load of games we should have won.

And UF, FSU, and Bama have like 7 natties between them in the same period which is all that really counts.

If you ain't in to win it all then why the frick do you play at all?
