Not sure anyone knows. Could be this morning, could be 2 weeks.

If and when the DC makes his decision could be very telling as far as timing goes

Good news is, we have a spot open for him. I know a lot of guys hate to undersign, but sometimes it pays to have an open slot. I wouldn't want to get in a habit of it, but to have one or two open isn't horrible.

Actually, we do this on purpose sometimes to free up scholarships for EEs the following year to create a much bigger class

We gotta be a bit more careful, though. The way we lose 3-4 players every off season, it can put a big dent in your depth.

Our depth issues came from undersigning PLUS attrition. At one point in 2012 we had fewer scholarship players on USC, and they were on NCAA probation for Reggie Bush-gate.

If the kid wanted to be a dawg, he would be. He wants to get away for some reason. What stinks is some team that didn't even recruit him will likely land his talent.

I've seen this line of thinking on here, but I am not sure I agree. Kids get confused sometimes. It always seems to be a good idea to leave home and move off. The IDEA, is to have more freedom. When push comes to shove it gets pretty scary to leave for the first time. I'm wondering if this is what he is going through and he is beginning to realize that he really wants the comfort of staying close to home...or at least closer. Right now, I'd be willing to bet he is a bit embarrassed. When this goes on for a bit he will make an announcement....wishing he could do it very quietly.
Personally, I think he stays home.

Personally I love open slots...
Me too, especially coupled with attrition. Nothing like watching some slow-arse walk-on attempt to ankle tackle some elite WR who is blowing by him like he's standing still. It's my favorite.

Coach: At least a week before LB Roquan Smith makes decision
I don't think this is a good sign for us. I think he's really getting a pile of attention from all over now. It just opens up even more options that he hadn't considered before.

The article says he's only considering the same four schools.
This is a good decision for him personally to gather himself and not do anything too rash.

Exactly. Something a few others should have done.

Yeah I get that but the kid has had a lot of time to really look over his options.
You know teenagers. They put everything off thinking it will work itself out. Then when it is time to make a decision.....freeze. Hopefully he has taken a step back and is taking his time to make sure......actually giving it a lot of thought.
He stays home.
