How did we let Buster Faulkner get away? He doesn't run 1980's offense like Bobo does but I guess he's not best buds with Kirby either.

He was OC there under HC Todd Monken.

Coley has to go as the WR coach, I’m not calling for Bobo’s job but I would much rather have Faulkner back calling plays. But I’m assuming the only coach that will be replaced are ones leaving for other opportunities

He took the GT job well before Monken took the Ravens job. Coley is a stand out recruiter
, with limit on field coaches being lifted I wish we would hire an on field assistant for all the position coaches Terrence Edwards would be perfect for WR let him worry about teaching technique and practice management while Coley recruits.

Yep and he still has his private WR tutor business too, most of the top guys GA all go through his program before going to college

He's not going to leave Mt.Vernon

I could probably think of 500,000 reasons he’d consider it.

You may have missed some subtle sarcasm.

I didn't like the Bobo hire...Searles either. I'd be fine if they were both gone after this season. Same with DB coach. LB's have also faltered this season. UGA still has a ton of 4 and 5 star players but the play on the field has been underwhelming. Coaching???

Agreed. I've been a stout Bobo supporter, but it's become an untenable position to hold given his lack of creativity and offensive production. I firmly believe his predictability is the sole reason we are flat offensively in the first half of every game. Everyone knows exactly what he's gonna call and we have to get behind before he will deviate from his bag of tricks. Instead of learning from it he goes right back to it the next game with the same predictable results. Rinse and repeat. He can't leave soon enough for me.

I think Bobo is actually making chicken salad out of chicken shite.
Let's look at what he is working with.
Depleted running back room
Head case QB who is making bad decisions
Lack of explosive receivers
Wr who can't catch the ball even when it does hit them in the hands.
Hurt O Lineman
It's no secret I've been one of Bobo's biggest defenders and supporters the last 2 years. Last year people were more interested in comparing him to Monken (the best OC we've had) and getting in their quota of tired meme phrases, and this year people seem to ignore every glaring issue mentioned in the quote above.
He is a human though and not infallabile or beyond reproach. There were a few things agianst tech that really really annoyed me that aren't due to all of the above and fall squarely on bobo.
-Early in the 2nd quarter it was a 3rd and medium and we had 3 WRs running routes. All 3 of them ran DEEP, slow developing routes and we ended up getting sacked. I looked up after the play was over and we had a receiver no joke 70 yards downfield! It's even more striking wathcing a team like tech that does practically NOTHING vertical and does everythign spaced out side to side and getting people in space in the short/medium area. I don' think we do near enough of that.
-Early in the 3rd we hit a big reverse to arian for a huge gain. Obviously I was ecstatic about that because it gave us some much needed life. But when looking at this play develop what do you see?

I wish I had the full game replay on youtube but right now can only find highlights. The aerial skycam view from the broadcast really highlights this more but we've got a guy receiving the ball 7 yards behind the LOS, with his back to the LOS, who still ran another yard or so to even out before turning upfield. It worked whihc is obviously all that matters, but honestly I don't prefer having guys catch the ball facing backwards almost 10 yards behind where we snapped it.
-On a somewhat similar note is the botched 2pt conversion after our 1st TD.

I don't mind weird uncoventional type plays, no problem. What I do mind is intentionally and on purpose making things more difficult on ourselves. Not only is this play to the short side which just shrinks our available space, we threw the ball backwards. This is a 2 point try which starts at the 2 and we are getting the ball to our receiver on the 10! We have, on purpose, just moved ourselves backwards 8 yards and are hopin and praying a T and a TE can block whoever happens to be out there. It seems like this was tyring to be big brained 4D chess and out think everyone but it was a total failure.
LAstly hindsight is of course 20/20, but why wait until the 8th OT to give our best RB the ball from 2 yards out? All season long we have shown a jumbo package wiht a lineman (or chambliss) at FB and road grading for a 1st down/TD. Not sure why it took so long to do that but hey, glad it worked.

Looks like I was wrong. Rumors are Marshall head coach will be named after the Sun Belt championship game. I think his name is Charles Huff? Looks like Marshall isn’t going to renew his contract and surprisingly he gets paid way less than USM can offer.

Good thread. I didn't know about Van Gorder either. Sounds like a smart guy but has had trouble tutoring Beck. Our offense seems to do a lot better when we go into gun slinger mode. It seems like we start off trying to establish the run; then against Bama, Ole Miss, and Tech we got behind early. Vs. Bama and Tech Beck really looked comfortable gun slinging. The Ole Miss D line was eating us up so Beck had too much pressure. Some focus should be on the WR coaching. Seems like Coley is in place for recruiting but our receivers have been pretty bad this year. I would like to see Kirby bring in an analyst and guy to work with the QB's but seems like he is really tight w/ all the guys on the offensive staff. I don't think Kirby will shake things up in the off-season. The only chance of Bobo leaving would be like Muschamp if takes an approach like Muschamp. I just don't know what is next for Bobo. I doubt he even wants to try a HC job again. Faulkner will be a HC very soon IMO.
