It's also hot as everliving arse out there... Can't say I would have been super excited to tie the game and risk getting into an extra innings game...

Yeah. Definitely... Just didn't like us not at least making him pitch the zone... If it was empty bases, so be it but once we had 2 in scoring position I just wanted us to force him to attack the zone.

But as noted above, we'd have potentially been worse off to score two and then get stuck in extra innings...

How bout some planning adjustment? 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. Lay the bunt down. Squeeze bunt? Something, at least try! Don't you want to win the SEC? You have rest time for everyone. The next game is playing later so theoretically you have more rest time. Such a disappointment to sit there and watch swining at bad pitches. What was the last batter 1 for a ton? Get it tied up and adjust again. Remember Coastal Carolina a few years ago in the CWS?!? Get on base, move the runners around, score runs and WIN!!

Meh... I'm ok with trying to go all or nothing. There's not a lot of value in winning the tournament. Playing small ball to tie up and go extra innings not necessary there unless we just wanted the practice... Too hot to play extra innings on purpose.

Just the plate discipline... No reason to swing hard at shite that's pretty well outside. At least force him to close the damn thing out.

Every year the top teams in the SEC tournament are forced to decide if they want to win in Hoover or prepare for Regionals. Some teams are good enough to do both (like Vandy and some of the UF and LSU teams in the past) but most are either or (Ole Miss last year for example).

I think we absolutely did the right thing getting our arms work today and sort of shrugging at sunday. A trip to Omaha will ALWAYS outweigh a conference baseball tournament title. Maybe if the SEC fixed the format things would change but for now most of your top teams are going to play it safe

Don’t agree with, “its too hot to play”, it’s hot for everyone. We were undefeated and now out with 1 loss. OM was low on pitching, we weren’t, we were up 2-0. No in-game adjustment is what cost us. You play to win not practice. I hope we make it to Omaha, but do we when we don’t know how make a game adjustment. Too much talent to loose like that. Just need a coaching staff to know how to use the talent!

I don't get it. Wasn't it double elimination?

It’s a weird format. It’s single elimination on Tuesday, double on Wednesday and Thursday, then back to single Friday-Sunday

I was thinking the same thing, it should be double all the way through the tournament, not just on certain days

It’s bizarre. You can go through the losers bracket or winners bracket to the semifinals, where it becomes single elimination.

Not enough time and this tournament is already a drain on teams preparing for regionals. Best they could do is top 8 teams with double elimination until a single elimination title game

This... Just not enough value in the tournament for teams with a real shot at Omaha.

You can disagree all you want... It doesn't change the fact that getting to Omaha is the single biggest goal in front of the team... When they made the decision to pitch both aces today and put them on pitch counts it was a clear signal that winning was optional today...

Are people really melting down about this? A national seed is locked up. The Athens Academy lineup should be playing from here out. frick the SEC tournament, the focus should be solely on getting to Omaha.

The point I’m trying to make is, if you can’t win with what ya got in Hoover how do you expect to win the Natty? To be the best you gotta beat the best! or the 1 loss team that’s out of pitching in the regional tourney.

LSU in 2009 and 2000 are the only teams in the past 20 years to win both the SEC tournament and national championship.

So, Vandy in 2014, Florida in 2017, and South Carolina in 2010 and 11 all failed to win it when they won national titles. Arkansas didn’t win it last year when they finished runner up in Omaha, Vandy didn’t in 2015 when they were runner up, we didn’t win it in 2008 when we finished runner up

Most teams use the first few days to test themselves and gain some momentum but the goal is to always conserve pitching if you have a chance to host and make a run

Seems like you’re comparing the SEC baseball Tourney championship to Football or even basketball. The SEC Tournament in baseball is not a big deal at all.
