May be the key to this one.

UGA have only converted 39.4% of third downs so far, after being near the top of the sport all last year.

We are allowing the opponents to convert third downs at a rate of 39%

Bama is converting third downs 52.5% of the time. They are holding their opponents to a 16.2% third down conversion rate.

I think this where not having Brock and Ladd are really hurting us. Hell the Auburn game alone it felt like Brock converted 10 third downs on his own.

Milroes legs and the threat of him running make Bama hard to stop on third and medium or less. I think their defensive numbers are probably inflated by the competition.

Feel like we need our rate on offense to be between 40-50% and keep them around 30% to be successful.

Dom feels like the guy that has to step up on these downs. He's the most twitchy guy we have. Need him to have a big game.

This and the fact that something is in Beck's head. We had those same percentages after Brock and Ladd went down last year.

We need a 3rd down possession receiver like Bowers or Ladd who we know can deliver in a clutch. I haven't seen that player suit up for us this season.

Humphrey's looked pretty damn good. Young and Lovett can do it, too. I thought that Luckie's hands were good, too

Young has the body for it, especially on those back shoulder throws. Just hope he is healthy

The OL is our problem and TE blocking. They are getting whipped up front which is why our running game is inconsistent.
When your OL is getting whipped, you need innovative play calling to focus the point of attack elsewhere. We are running the same plays that worked for our previous offenses but they aren't going to work against a stout defense when your OL is losing the battle at the line of scrimmage.
So yes, we are missing Bowers and McConkey big time but we are also missing having a fast athletic QB like Bennett who can put pressure on a defense outside with run/pass options.
Beck played well against Clemson. He's going to need an equally impressive outing vs Bama.

But why is the oline losing up front? We lost a few guys but have recruited well and have always had a solid o line.

Is it the coach or the players?

Also don't count out Dillon Bell

We have a wealth of talent at TE and WR. You can’t use the KY game as an absolute for the team. KY did a lot of stuff on defense that confused our blocking and we had a number of missed blocks. With the score the way it was, I feel strongly that Smart didn’t want our QB to lose the game for us and had Bobo and Beck play it accordingly. We knew we could punt it and keep the game in check…which we did. We had 2 weeks to fix our mistakes and to add wrinkles based on what KY did if other teams try to mimic it. We play a lot of really good teams on the road this year and we might well could lose some games. It is wayyy to early to make rash judgments on what we have and can do. There are a lot of really good players on our team.

If they did that, then Bama and all will expand on it.

Yes and we will learned what we did wrong during film and fixed/adjusted the last 2 weeks.

I doubt it, Kentucky has a very old defense, a bunch of 3-6 year guys, on top of that they had a QB that was in our system for 3 years and a MLB that was the same. They could teach cues, formations, and tendencies in real time at practice. I know we tried to down play it because that’s what you’re supposed say but you know it matters.

Understood that we did a lot of practice on blocking and tackling...

This… and I know Kirby has some built up frustration for Bama. I expect us to play well.

Was really hoping Anthony Evans or Cole Speer could fill McConkey’s shoes.

Great point. And they executed on a high level based on how Brooks Austin described it.

I'm sure Bama will try to employ similar tactics but to be seen if they can execute as well as Kentucky....which sounds weird lol

Yet the narrative seems to be that the opposite is true. I hope we invert that narrative this week. A lot of youth on Bama’s D and they haven’t played an offense with a pulse.

I hate that RaRa got into trouble and kicked off. That stupid teenage brother of his cost the Dawgs a good receiver and likely millions for their family.

All I can think is ahole adolescents. smh

If the UGA OL/TE/WR block better on running plays, that stat will improve.

The Kentucky game was pathetic. Anything over 3rd and 4, we should've just punted.

That's not the entire story. There was a snow bunny involved also..
