Supposedly regulation is coming sooner rather than later so in other words the players will get paid but the cat is out of the bag with NIL so idk how they can put a stop to private entities offering kids money on the down low. It’ll be a new era of player salaries on the surface but it’ll be like the old days of paying them extra off the books.

Meh I think you’re still in the Wild West phase of NIL. You won’t know what the risk affordability of these guys dropping these stacks in these NIL funds until overtime the ROI starts to shape up.
I don’t want to underestimate the emotional investment these boosters have and when Sark is in their ear talking about the next Justus Terry in 2026 you could certainly be right.

Lost in the Terry fallout, Jaylan Morgan the 3-4 star safety out of Nashville area stuck with us today.

I HATED NIL and knew it was the death of our beloved college football from the moment it got introduced.
I am really happy we won a championship before it really kicked in and destroyed the old college football. I don't really know how much longer I will keep watching and paying attention.
I used to love the Falcons, but haven't watched a game in years. The NFL, NBA, MLB are all dead to me.
I still love Team America!

Same here. I have trouble thinking of the players as a team, more a bunch of hired mercenaries. Not all of them, but enough to break the connection. That 2021 team had a fire that I don't think college footbal will see again.

Being able to drop a big bag of money in the 11th hour and negate 6 years of recruiting, visits, texts, etc. has to be is discouraging to Smart because that’s something he’s excelled at. What does this do to traditional recruiting over time? Other than identifying talent is the rest becoming pointless and a huge waste of time?
Was joking with some friends last night about schools shifting toward NFL coaches and staff because they’re used to managing a payroll and a room full of highly paid young athletes.

What it means is our boosters are either going to have to pony up ridiculous amounts of money for 5 star players or our coaching staff is going to have to do more with less like the Boise States of the world.

Absolutely, just glad Kirby got us 2 NC's before NIL became full blown ridiculous.

They play a weak arse schedule all year long...its not that they are doing more with less. Give us their schedule and we win the NC every year. We wont be beat up, we will beat teams by 40 all year, dont have to play tough games back to back to back multiple times in a season, etc

Texas reportedly came in with a stupid offer last night. Same thing happened with Caleb Downs, too.
I've about had it with this unfettered NIL.
Texas came in, offered Terry 2.5 mil AND said they'd move his mom out there as that was the main reason he wanted to stay close and play at UGA. He wanted his mom to see him at the games.
The fact any of that is allowed in college athletics is a joke.
I'm from that area and still have close ties and family there.

Seven Cloud
my favorite part of the entire article is how he talks of wanting to play for Georgia. I love that, those are the ones you want

Glad he’s still in the game and committed to us but he won’t even be on campus until next December.
