Made my day - big win for us. Was hoping this was coming after all of his recent visits.

Someone better break out the checkbook for Dan Lanning then. He's absolutely killing it and is probably on a lot of short lists for an HC position somewhere. Would love to keep him.

Our D haul is gonna be sick this year. Suspect we'll turn away kids who end up at Bama/ tOSU. We're the only team left in college football who cheers louder for defense than offense.

I’ve heard some great things about Williams. Tray may be able to turn him into a really special talent down the road.

Lot of smoke that we are in it for him. I think Alabama is too. This one could get interesting real quick.

To quote SoFl: "Top 2, and we ain't #2."

Will personally wait to see it play out, but like the confidence (despite him also being confident on Burden prior to his announcement.)

ETA: Sounds like his update today was slightly less bullish. Going to be a fight, unsurprisingly. See my personal opinion above prior to hearing that.

I’m not entirely up to speed on Williams, but I’d read in the past he was projected as a defensive end or even interior lineman. More recent articles say linebacker. Where do we plan to utilize him?

From what I've read he's a great athlete but somewhat of a tweener right now. Hence the "down the road" comment a few posts above yours.

Man, Mykel is such a great get!

Cherry on top — 4 star LB Shemar James who also visited this past weekend — decommits this morning from UF. That’ll help their overall morale after losing to LSU & heading into JAX. Lol.

Edit: he was the gators top commit in the ‘22 class.

I think Mykel is a bit of a tweener but he is so talented that he will find his way on the field sooner than some folks are predicting. I’ve heard the same things on other guys that turned about to be studs as well.

In this sense "tweener" might actually mean LB athlete in a DL frame. He's 6-5, 265lbs but looks like a Safety. Look at pic below. You can do a lot with that!

And if initial counter, back-counter, blueshirt math weren't hard enough to calculate, didn't the NCAA approve the "up to 7" replacement signees to address transfer portal departures?

I think SoFl said we would take something like 27? Could be more if we add transfers. I may have misunderstood, but it seems like that was it.

Exactly. He sure doesn’t look like a D lineman. No doubt our coaches will figure it out.

Last I saw, anywhere between 27-29 High School recruits are the current expected number... leaving 2-4 spots for transfers. Additionally, expect some blueshirt/forward counting games as well (though I believe 2 of last year's signees were technically forward counters to this year, so it comes out in the wash... sounds like it's an expected thing every year at this point).
