Florida is, as the kids say, big mad.

Gators I've read online are fuming over this one . I didn't think Mathis was the future but from what limited stuff I have ready seems to indicate this kid is going to be the heir to Fromm. Early enrollee too.

Beck is definitely better as a Junior than Mathis was as a senior, but we'll see how Mathis develops in the coming season. Line em up, bring em in, and let them compete. May the best man win and may the next man have success at his 2nd choice school. Go Dawgs.

Bama seems pretty mad as well glancing at their board, according to them Ole Miss turned our arse in to the NCAA over presumably the recruitment of Nakobe Dean. It's a complete melt all around, good to see frankly.

I've mentioned this before, but BOL (Bama 247) is by far the best board on the internet for UGA-related conspiracy theories. Better than any UF, GT, or AU boards.

Nakobe Dean's family's mechanic would be a good source to ask about it. I actually WISH Bama had "played the game"

Our big boy boosters could not afford to get the family a brand new ride? I'm disappointed, LOL.

UGA paid a bill to get a car fixed. This is almost as funny as every person in Alabama having the same jaw line.

Bama fans quite literally have no idea how to lose. It's a glorious time to be alive, not just to see their dynasty begin to show signs of decline, but for our star (on the whole) to be on the rise, too.

We'll see Kirby hit his next gear as the recruiting wins continue to stack up.

FWIW, this actually meshes up pretty well with what was coming out of the state of Mississippi from non Bama sources around the time that he signed as well... Originally the figure that was bandied about was a smaller sum of money and a car (about 80k value). Now seeing some chatter that it was much larger number, but still less than Bama paid for Sanders or Auburn paid for Pappoe... so make of that what you will.

Why would Bama need to pay for Sanders, when he's allegedly turned off by the depth chart, thinking Holyfield was going to stay for his senior year?

Because he told our staff the night before NSD he was coming to Athens.

So it's fair to say Emery was paid as well?

Basically every high level recruit gets $ these days. Some schools are worse than others with how much they give out.

He may have gotten money, but that’s not why he committed to LSU.

The gators amuse me to no end

Tua will be drafted before Feleipe. Herbert may be drafted before Feleipe. Feleipe will be drafted before Shea, Fromm, and Eason. I have zero doubt about it.

FWIW, I don’t think they think that he’s necessarily good. He just looks like the NFL quarterback that some GMs drool over. Those QBs tend to be out of the league sooner rather than later.

I think all 3 of those QBs go before Franks but I at least kind of understand the point.

Out of curiosity....wasn't Dean's parents doctors or lawyers or something? If so, I can't imagine them risking their son's future for a car repair, or a car, for that matter. Maybe I am remembering wrong?

Here’s some fun quotes from the Beck commitment.

quote:

“So I had obviously named Florida my leader and I kind of just put that out there to say like ‘Hey this is the team that is coming at me the hardest. This is the team where I feel like I could see myself at’ but also I had two schools kind of like in the back of my head – one of those being Georgia – where if I got that offer I would pause for a second and say ‘OK, hold on. I got to kind of take this in.’” “So I visited up there and it was absolutely awesome and everything that I expected.”

What a nut punch to Florida fans.

As I said... Make of it what you will. I agree, it would seem odd and largely unnecessary as I do seen to remember that at least his mother is a physician. Mostly was pointing out that this isn't the first time that rough accusation has come up...

If they're referring to actual car repairs on the other hand, I'm not buying it at all... No way a parent with their education allowed their kid to risk eligibility over a car repair bill (couple of thousand bucks tops).

I got a good chuckle out of that as well. Other schools in the southeast in particular have years' worth of handing out multiple thousands to recruits, buying cars, paying families, buying family's houses, moving families, setting them up with jobs at the school, and on and on. But yeah we paid for a parent's fender bender and that's what put him over the edge to sign with us.
