Gilbert was lost because we couldn’t showcase any kind of passing game because we simply didn’t hve the personnel to do so. He wants to play a flex TE position and we couldn’t demonstrate that we could do that whereas LSU was able to show that in spades with Moss and their big receivers.

True, but Burrow is gone and Brady likely won't be there past next year. Of course that doesn't answer the questions we have.

Evans was this year's Haselwood. Always one in every class that loves the attention.

It’s not for lack of trying, just couldn’t convince the kid of what he was wanting to see and he made a smart move to go with a program on the rise in an offense that can guaranteed use him the way he wants to be used

If you want to lay that at Kirby’s feet for mismanaging his receiving group I won’t argue with you; Kirby fricked up

Makes sense and I think Gilbert made a good decision as long as they have a QB next year.

I've heard like a lot of people that Gilbert wants to play wr and UGA wanted a true te. Obviously he can motion out sometimes but word is that Gilbert will play wr.

I really dont understand what these people are going for. nothing negative as yet to happen today. everyone we thought would come is in, and we are still in it for big names

Difference is LSU was able to show the kid what he wanted to see. UGA couldn’t. Whether Brady or Burrow leave, LSU now has a reputation of using an offense that works and profiles that type of skill set whereas UGA is the place for guys who want early PT because the offense is so broken.

Good insight. Makes sense.
Translation: our offense needs to evolve to attract top offensive prospects.

I mean yes and no. We don’t have to do exactly what LSU is doing but fans and coaches alike have to be aware that if you don’t keep viable personnel on the roster, no matter your philosophy you’re going to struggle. We are still bringing in great offensive talent but you have to do it every year at every position group; can’t sign lackluster receiving classes if you’re determined to run the ball. Not in this league

is it all freaking possible to just talk about recruiting on this thread?

we're still recruiting Blaylok and D-Rob?

Dude, it's ok to have both positive and negative opinions about different aspects of UGA's current team and the kids coming in. Most here who've seen my posts should know that I'm usually more positive than warranted about our prospects and it's often comes back to bite me, but I really do try to be honest.

Now, you're free to try and police people's posts, but unless you're going to go through this thread and make the same comment about other posts that are 100% unrelated to recruiting I'm going to assume you're saying I shouldn't give my opinion like everyone else. . . and then I'll politely ask you to STFU.

Anybody that wants Gilbert over Washington is a real idiot. Go compare them. Washington is a program changing TE. He can't be guarded. He blocks like a damn bulldozer.

Also Rusty just said at the moment he is hearing stroud is leaning even more toward UGA.

Lol, unrelated but we got another commitment to the "university of LSU" out of Marcus Dumervil, nephew of Elvis

LSU should want Gilbert over Washington, and he should want to be there over UGA. Their passing game will work very well with a kid with his skillset and tools.

A kid with more a traditional TE tool bag will fit perfectly with UGA. He's a great blocker, and he'll be a perfect outlet for Fromm. There's absolutely no way this team won't exploit the middle of the field with a 6'8 target abusing opposing LBs. Currently there isn't a great 5-15 yard option between the hashes, so he'll get 80% of those targets.

I think UGA is an awesome option for Washington if he wants to make an immediate impact and get national attention.

ETA:
This kid is the #1 target if the main goal is to improve the passing game next year. He'll make more of a difference than any of the WRs on the board.
