What a shitty day to have to play these games outside.

That said, I’m ready to see Allatoona v Harrison and then Marietta v Lowndes. Cobb County looking to get its 3rd and 4th titles of the decade since being shutout since the 60’s.

MCB doubled it's price and GHSA couldn't afford it.

Pretty bad PR for Arthur Blank IMO.

Blank tried to charge the GHSA something like $600,000. Total dick move to an organization he claims to support.

You could play them all at a nicer HS stadium like McEachern or that shitty HS Stadium on North Ave.

Honestly, I would play them at Kennesaw, 10,500 should fill up.

Go Dublin!

Yeeeeeeeeeah especially when they have that giant wall glorifying high school football in the state.

Really bad look, especially when operating costs to open up the bottom portion of the stadium can’t be $600k

Bobby-Dodd would actually be a great place to play these games if not indoors. State got chosen because it’s cheap

They claim it is but didn't they play there since it opened?

They have so I can’t see how their demand holds water and the GHSA was right to call their bluff. Too bad it comes at the expense of this years teams

Nah but it was still relatively affordable

quote:

The price tag to play the state championship games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium had gotten too big. The last two seasons, the GHSA paid nearly $600,000 to hold the title games there. It was almost a $300,000 increase from when the games were held in the Georgia Dome from 2008-16.

Go back to playing at the hs of the teams that made the ship. Coin toss to see who gets home field. Split the tickets 50/50 for attendance.

It used to be the semifinals in the dome a long time ago (more games, more teams, and more fans to offset the cost). Finals were flipped north and south every other year at a home team stadium

Apparently they did pay the inflated price
the last 2 years but finally told em they
weren't gonna do it.

They need to get it straightened out.Kids don't want to come to ATL just play at Turner Field and recipts are gonna be way down with this weather. Lose/Lose

A team shouldn’t get a home field advantage in a championship game, and it certainly shouldn’t be decided by something as arbitrary as a coin flip or a north/south flip.

No team should ever have to play a road game for a championship.

Don't think it would be dooable from a TV stand point and I imagine GHSA gets a pretty nice payday from GPTV.Its their highest rated programming for the year.

Pretty surprised to see Brooks Co leading Dublin at half.
