I don't have any confidence that he'll spurn USC, but he's a stud and I'd love for him to sign with Alabama.

I'm not trying to rain on y'alls parade, but now there are people from our side saying Saban and Co. wouldn't accept Joseph's LOI this morning due to grades.
Typically I'd just chalk this up as sour grapes (we have a huge bunch of entitled pussies in our fan base), but one of our non-pussy guys found this article on Joseph from a year ago when he was committed to LSU (fair warning, it was written by a LSU mod):

I wish him nothing but the best because he seems to be a great kid.

When Evans first laid eyes on Joseph, he was the same height as he is now — 6-foot-2 — but about 35 pounds lighter.
That wasn’t even the most alarming thing.
Evans, then a teacher at N.E.W. Generation Charter School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was informed Joseph struggled maintaining his grades. At 16, Joseph was reading at a fifth-grade level, and it was only a matter of months before he was scheduled to join the workforce.

Seems like if it that were the case he'd bump down a notch instead of up.

I think Malcolm Mitchell was similar when he got here (and probably 1000s of others, including athletes on Bama's and UGA's roster currently). But Malcolm worked hard at it, got better, and ended writing a successful children's book. Hopefully, if true, he will be willing to get better and use the countless resources provided to him at UGA.
And yeah, you're right, it does seem like sour grapes.

No disrespect to you, Tide, but that's not how it works. If one of our two schools were going to leave a guy out for grades, it wouldn't be Bama.

You misrepresented the article, you should have read further:
Thanks for the bad intel from bama.

Joseph’s growth in the classroom and on the football field has been strong. He’s passing all of his classes and has emerged as one of the top prospects in Florida and in the country.
This has come in a two-year span, which is all the more impressive for Evans, who saw this inside of a skinny 16-year-old.
Thanks for the bad intel from bama.

Could be but lots of people already knew last night he was flipping to UGA. Timeline doesn't seem right...

Like I said, I don't necessarily believe what these Bama guys are saying because they didn't mention it all day before he flipped.
However, based on the article from a year ago there are some academic issues with Joseph (at least there were).

One of my friends was Boom Williams’ high school English teacher and said he was reading at a 5th grade level. UGA eventually pulled their offer. Kentucky had no problem taking him and keeping him qualified.
Either way, if we sign him and he can’t qualify then he goes prepco for a year. Both Bama and UGA do this with at least 1 or 2 signees every year.
The noise coming out of Bama that they suddenly changed their minds in the last 72 hours due to grades is pure butthurt bullshite, with all due respect.

Folks that believe that about Joseph are like the Tennessee folks who started singing the blues about Cade Mays playing soft once his Top 3 came out and the Sister-Kissers didn't make the cut.
