any idea how? Did he somehow get Wyatt's spot once he didn't qualify? Wyatt's 2017 spot has been the outstanding question I've had for a while.
You're exactly right. And now that rule has changed lol.

It's a bit of a ridiculous rule IMO.
I see your point, but I feel it benefits us so much. Roster management under this rule will be crucial.
Not getting spots back when kids don't qualify will be interesting to watch.
That's the only way I see 24 on signing day, is if we hold for a late qualifier.

It would be a massive relief to cruise into the Feb NSD with the class full, or we knew for sure that anyone signing that day was headed to Athens. Wouldn't even know what to do with myself....

Without a doubt. I mean... I'm not complaining about it... I think that between Kirby and Co's recruiting, our PWO program with HOPE, and the improved roster management that we seem to have already implemented, it's working out in our favor. Could easily see that going the wrong way though if say next season we managed similar results to this year and a good chunk of that 2016 recruiting class decided to bolt. We'd weather the storm, but I just think the 25 limit is a bit shortsighted. It's probably going to hurt Ole Miss a lot actually now that I think about it. Also, not being able to "half arse" the first recruiting class and take fewer guys for new coaches hired in December/January time frame and then back count once you have a full cycle is likely to hurt some programs as well.

Per Sports Illustrated:
quote:
Remember Daniel Faalele, the 6'9", 396-pound Australian offensive lineman I wrote about last winter? He has now played his first full season of organized football (at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.), and he has chosen a college. On Saturday, Faalele and IMG Academy teammate Curtis Dunlap decided to row the boat for P.J. Fleck at Minnesota.

Until they offered, I had no clue who he was, but if that 40 is legit.... Sign him up
Think we benefit here from the depth of WRs in the state of Texas this year. Probably a guy that could benefit from a redshirt but has potential down the line for sure.

Several Georgia boys in their class. We're visiting one this afternoon.

Either way, I'll get you that Crow recipe. Just fixed up some for myself
If i need to, I'll be more than happy to have a heaping, helping serving of crow. But that will come in February. Ummmm...just to be clear, I said I thought we would finish somewhere in the 3-4 range and was leaning towards the 4 spot, while everybody else was saying 2, right?

Margin of error there. I was only on my second pot of coffee at that post I think. I'm awake now.
Oh, no problem. I'm not going to call you on it if we only have 18 or 19. I was just surprised that many of our targets would be locked up that early. I thought more would wait until February.
Again, thanks for the information you bring.

Something about we won't finish top 3. I don't have time to look.

On the plus side, it shouldn't take long for some of these kids to figure out if they want a big time program to offer them, they need to buckle down in the classroom. That's a positive in the long run, because the kids will be better prepared for college academics and teams may not lose as many due to grades.

I want to lean towards 3, but I was actually thinking we would go #4. I was thinking Ohio State and Texas was solid at 1 and 2, and Alabama might sneak into #3, but I saw somewhere that Bama is only taking 22? if that is the case, I can see us at #3. Is that still what you guys are thinking, or are you now looking at over taking Texas at #2?

That's what I was thinking I was saying, too, Barstools.
It's nice to say I was probably wrong.

If we get Hill, Cox, Salyer, Ford, Tindall, it will be hard for Texas to hold us off. Add Mays or Campbell to that, and there's basically no chance.
ETA: It doesn't look like Texas has a ton left on the board

We are at 293 with just Hill, Salyer, and Cox. Just hit on a couple more guys and its 300 and no one except for Ohio State will probably get that high.

And they might lose one or two guys as well.

Wasn't 2018 supposed to be a down year for us with recruiting? Looks like we're tearing it up.
