Most probably saw this, but update on Channing Tindall's timeline... Won't be signing during early signing period. Look to February at this time.

This is interesting, as I'd imagine that a good portion of our class will be locked in during early signing.

I know it's a long shot, but I found this particularly interesting......we have a chance to sign 1/5 of the top 50 players in the nation. That is absolutely mind boggling.

Thanks for the sane, non emotional breakdown on the Chaney thing, too. I hate it when one person gets emotional after a loss and makes a post about a coach or player, and everybody jumps in and piles on. On the other extreme, it's just as bad if one person criticizes a coach or player and the herd mentality jumps on him. Georgia fans seem to have a herd mentality sometimes.

Are you guys thinking about his twin brother that played FB?

That was Zander, Alec's twin brother.(Short for Alexander) He definitely wasn't a 5*, but the service is showing him as one. For that matter, I didn't remember Alec being a 5*, but it's difficult for me to remember.

Should we be looking over our shoulder for the NCAA to come calling? Or have we traditionally recruited well enough that the simple act of hiring a top recruiter as HC will make them think there’s nothing to see here?

Lol. I am happy to be getting all the croots...and I think we have recruited well enough the past 20 years or so that it’s not a big deal.

I just don’t want us to get Ole Miss’d.

It's so early, it is hard for me to get too excited about that.

Ole Miss drew attention because they started getting number 1 players from multiple different states when they were averaging 15-20 overall classes in years past.

We’ve been having consistent top 5-10 classes since Richt was hired

Ole Miss was blatantly cheating and basically handing out cash in the quad. UGA is just owning its own state now which happens to be top 3 in the nation spitting out kids. Just the big dog waking up. Why should Alabama have better classes than us considering geography.

That is being kind because I'll bet you they weren't in the top 25 most years.

Not really recruiting news, but liked this tweet from Terrence Edwards at Pace Academy:

quote:

Don’t let anyone tell you, you have to play 7A football to be ready to play college football as a freshman. #PaceKnights

Also, seeing as how 2021 is a long way away and don't feel like putting this in the 2019 thread... Langston White has freshman highlights up.

#1 Athlete in Georgia for 2021 right now... (long way to go). Andrew Thomas tweeted it out and said something about "Lil Bro"... but not sure if that's legitimately a relative or "in spirit". Very versatile player for sure. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

Best part about that coach is he stated that if Dawg fans like Andrew Thomas we are going to love Jamaree Salyer. I'm trying to find the exact quote...

Edit: found it, HC Chris Slade, "If fans like Andrew Thomas, they're gonna love Jamaree Salyer".

Haha... worst kept secret in recruiting at this point it would seem. I get it though... if he commits, it's 90% certain that his ranking drops back some... because reasons (gotta sell them subscriptions somehow, right...) If he wants to ride this thing out until December, so be it. Just keep working on guys like Mays behind the scenes.

Agreed. I personally think we have a legitimate shot with Mays. Because great tackles are hard to find and we look STOCKED at the Guard spot I would prioritize Mays over Hill but for everything i've read it looks like we may take both which would mean we could have the best OL depth I can remember seeing anywhere. It truly is unreal how this train keeps on building steam. Definitely makes for exciting times for those of us that follow recruiting closely.

won't be room for Tindall unless we fail to flip Reese

I think we have room for 6 more: 1 NG, 1 ILB, 1 tall cover corner, 2 OL, 1 TE

Not saying Tindall isn't all world or anything, just looking at the numbers

You make room for Tindall and Reese. A lot of rumblings that a current commit won't qualify so we might not even have to encourage somebody to leave.
