f we can someone pull Salyer, Hill and Anderson, that'd rival the 17 class.
Throw Ford in there too.

We have playing time early at center, but he wants to stick with Guard.

Btw would y'all like us to start doing some RPO's with fields? Man he just opens up the playbook!

Yep, rumors he doesn't like our depth chart at all, I don't really expect him to be in the class right now. I'm more than happy with Salyer and Ericsson though. Plus, spots are going to be really tight going forward, if taking one less OL means we can have room for a Ford or an extra interior DL then I won't be too upset.
Agreed. Don't forget Condon as well. He's projected as a Tackle out of HS, but pretty sure most see him as someone who could slide inside as well if needed. Erickson has been said to project at both OG and OC. Considering it looks like Netori and possibly Isaiah are staring down redshirts, I think this might be a blessing in disguise to free up another scholarship. Don't get me wrong... if we could land Hill, I'd be thrilled, but I'm not shocked that he might see more appeal and/or playing time elsewhere.

Holy shite. I'm terrified that he's gone after this season or next at the rate he's pulling in talent. Is there someway we can lock him down with damn near OC pay? Chaney's probably willing to take a slight pay cut...

Going to be really interesting to see how the class finishes off, just 9 spots left (at most) and it looks like some tough decisions will have to be made by the staff. Top targets left:
RB: James Cook
WR: Alontae Taylor
TE: Luke Ford
OG: Salyer
DT: Cooper and/or Trout and/or Sandidge
ILB: Otis Reese and? Tindall
OLB/DE: Adam Anderson and/or KJ Henry
CB: Tyson Campbell or Nadab Joseph or Gilbert Frierson
Not to mention if we keep winning and reeling in top recruits, there is a good chance some guys not even on our radar right now will want to join, gonna be interesting for sure.

Also FWIW that 2* DL out of Philly got a UF offer a couple of days ago, looks like his stock will indeed rise.
Posted on 10/6/17 at 2:55 pm to SumterCoDawg
I could see the Philly DL getting in rather than Sandidge. It just seems like his mom's alumni status to USCe is too much. I would LOVE to land the other 2 DL with the Philly kid.

I think we could relatively easily convince Fields to redshirt, if we do it properly, but looking at College and NFL dual threat QBs who redshirted a year in college:
VY
Cam (albeit medical)
Russell Wilson
Manziel
Mariota
Jameis
Troy Smith
Sam Bradford, Matt Leinart, and Jason White also redshirted making it 8 out of the last 11 winning Heisman QBs that have taken a redshirt season. Just saying.
eta: Thought about starting a thread about this, but thought we've had enough Fields' threads for the day

agreed. I think the sandidge boat has sailed. If we landed even one of Cooper or Trout, in addition to Wyatt, I'd say needs met. If we managed to pull in Barmore out of Philly as well, that'd be huge.

Only way we have a good shot at Sandidge is if USCe really goes down the shitter this year, like not even bowl eligible, which is possible. It'd also help if we kicked them in the dick here in Athens. Tray Scott is the only reason he hasn't already committed to USCe though, fwiw.
I think there is a very good chance we get at least one of Cooper and Trout. Cooper has been talked about before on here, but Trout is genuinely wide open in his recruitment and was very excited about Fields committing. If we get a visit from him, and I really think we do, watch out.

Could also make a play for JaMarr Chase. Brule's teammate.

Agreed. The tricky part about Trout is he's outright said he's not making a commitment prior to signing day (unclear on whether he means Dec or Feb). Given the likely tighter numbers in this class, that might not fly with Kirby and the staff.
I posted in another comment recently, but does anyone know how Wyatt will be counted if he early enrolls? Is he still an initial counter for the 2017 class if he EE's? Otherwise, we cap out at 24 due to Marvin's blueshirt I believe. I don't think there was any room to back count otherwise after I ran some numbers on NSD back in Feb.

I think they said Wyatt would be a 2018 counter.

If true, then that means we've got room for only 8 more in this class. Might send that as a question to Sentell or Seth Emerson for his mailbag.

Fields' commitment may very well be the catalyst that kicks in the litmus test that determines which offers are commitable and which aren't. I'm not necessarily pleased with that, but it happened with Toneil Carter, for the better.

Name him "run game coordinator" or some title like that, maybe "assistant head coach", and give him a big pay bump. He deserves it. He should be paid roughly the same as the OC because he's making Chaney's life a helluva lot easier. If McGarity won't pay Dell, pull a coup and go to the athletic board and get McGarity sacked. The man is already on thin ice and refusal to pay one of the best recruiters in the nation might be the straw to break the camel's back.

Tell me again what is blueshirt?
Greyshirt is where you oopsy daisy ran out of scholarship so player is preferred walkon for a year. That's my understanding.
