Just like with J Holloman, seems like this guy just doesn't have the qb to really show out. Whenever Holloman was at camps, he was always a top performer. Think I've read similar things on Perriman..

How is he as a punt and kick returner?

How do we look for Tre Hill. Dude is a stud

I'd be shocked if Trey Hill didn't end up at UGA. He's close with Fromm and loves him some Pittman. I feel better about Hill than I do about Salyer.

More so just how rock solid hill or something about salyer? I've thought he was a lock to us for a while now.

Everything I've read makes it sound like both Hill and Salyer are basically locks.

I'd say Salyer is a UGA lean, but it's my understanding that he's pushed his decision out. I know he is super close with OT Thomas, but Bama is hitting him hard. I still feel highly confident both Hill and Salyer are Dawgs

Kirby really wants him a dual threat guy
I guess he's been reading this board, huh?
That said, I like it.

Was just looking at '19 rankings and saw owen pappoe dropped 97 spots...what in the world happened there? He was a pretty consensus top 3 overall player from his freshman year until apparently a week or so ago and now they have him at 99.

Good question. 247 still has him at #2 overall. So it must mean he was dropped by at least 2 of the other services a *long* way... LINK
ETA: Doesn't help that 247 seems to be capping guys at about 96 rating on their own ratings. Given that some of the composite guys are sitting at a near perfect score though, I'm a little unclear on how that's possible. Wondering if the composite has been updated but not the "top 247" independent. If that's the case, still unclear on what would have prompted that big of a drop other than rating was originally based on potential and they didn't see enough this past season to warrant keeping it that high.

Usually guys who are ranked really high early drop when everybody catches up physically

I get that and it makes sense. But typically with guys that are that high up there since their sophomore seasons (clowney, rashan gary, najee harris, etc) will usually hang around the top 10. I've never seen a guy be a consensus top 5 overall player then drop 97 spots out of the blue outside of an injury or major issue.
A guy like mascoll in this class started out around a top 10-15 guy and dropped about 90 spots but it's apparently because he's out of shape and hasn't been working hard, I get that. I don't really get it with pappoe.

Its probably because he made a big splash initially dominating at camps as a freshman and sophomore, but since has not really stood out. From my understanding he has looked solid, but other 19 recruits are coming into their own and looking just as good if not better then him

Those guys were all physical freaks that stood out from everybody else.
Pappoe was a 6'1"ish 200 lb linebacker as a freshman and still is that size. He hasn't done anything wrong, they just rank kids too early.

that makes sense. Just seemed weird to see him fall so far after the hype of maybe being the #1 overall player in his class

FWIW Keith just changed his CB for Zeus to the good guys

Do you guys think the reason we are going for a DT-QB is because it may be hard to conince another blue chip to come in behind Eason and Fromm? Atleast with a dual threat, there is lobbying room.

I do think it at least plays a role. With Eason and Fromm on the roster, you've got a really difficult sell for say a top 10 Pro Style QB. Harrison Bailey in the 2020 class of course is a potential concern there as well for some incoming guys as well, if Eason plays 17-18, Fromm takes 19 (maybe 20), then where is their window?
With a DT QB, you can sell "we don't have anyone like you on the roster" and create separation. I do think that Kirby understands the value of what a DT can do for your offensive scheme, and that long term it's difficult to continually hit on Pro Style QBs, so not pigeon holing to a strict pro-style set is likely just a good balancing act anyways.
