I have high hopes for McBride next year at ILB. I don't think we will see a major drop off in on field production from the OLBs though how the senior leadership will be replaced is what worries me.

I am expecting somewhat of a rebuilding year with the way some of you are talking. Still we should expect to win the east atthe very least. But the way you have to look at it is winning the east puts you “in the playoffs” bc really the SECCG is a play off game. Unless you’re bama and you get to exempt the final exam, stay rested and play close to home in the first round.

Wasn't he is a car wreck that slowed him down?

Yeah Roquan may be listed at that weight but he played much more physical and bigger than that.

He usually stands the guy up or piles through him. And plus, he was a sure tackler with unbelievable instincts. Damn, the team is going to miss that dude.

No, Roquan was light. He stood people up with physics- good form and hitting with a head full of steam with no concern for his own well being, nor anyone else’s.

I missed every game this season as a matter of fact, and even on tv I only got to watch a few live. Mostly dvr’d. I have a challenging family situation at the moment but thanks for trying to make me feel stupid for not having our second stringers memorized, in a thread I created to ask questions about this exact topic.

Has a legit shot at starting day 1. Monte Rice, Patrick, Hunter and Taylor will all be playing. Probably our worst position group.

And here we go with this BS again.

OLB

D'Andre Walker
Walter Grant
Robert Beal
Adam Anderson (could become a Legend in these parts)
Quay Walker(Would be in the rotation if he signs

ILB (I'm gonna leave Smokey off my list until further notice)
Roquan Smith (ok ok ok, I'm in denial)
Monte Rice
Nate McBride (same size as Roquan but faster.
Jaden Hunter
Jaleel Laguins
Juwan Taylor
Channing Tindall (my wildcard much like Walter Grant last year if he add on weight)

Dawgs stacked for years to come.

What are the chances that Natrez starts this season? If he cleans his act up put him as the starting ILB.

Watch this video. Bump it up to about 20-25 seconds and watch the remaining 20 or so seconds. I knew he was fast (my son played against him & his bro) but holy moly is he strolling.

Football IQ should be high - coach’s son.

McBride ran sub 10.5 in HS.. his speed is somewhat neutralized with his lack of experience at the position. He’s very tough and not afraid to hit. He’s also a very smart kid with a good work ethic. All of that is great but he strikes me as better FB prospect than LB. JMHO

i just want to point out that even if this is true, you're only doing him a disservice with the comparison.

i know that's not your intent, but let's be reasonable

How did you even come up with this assumption? I posted the physical comparisons. I did not compare their football skills.

I think D'Andre will be better than Lorenzo was this previous season. I'm a little worried about him in run defense, but on passing downs he's fantastic.

I'm not sure if you understand what stacked means.
Our OL room is stacked.
Our RB room is stacked.
Our OLB room is stacked.

We aren't stacked at ILB. Our ILB, save a couple of drives (goalline against Miss St), actually looked bad last season when Roquan was not on the field.

Now, young guys like Rice, McBride, and Hunter will be a year older and could show improvement with a 2nd year in the system.

And Laguins will be an upperclassman. That is when the light comes on for most players.

But these guys are not the caliber of recruit as Roquan.
There is nothing guaranteed with their improved production. If anything, we are going to see guys like Lecounte stepping up sideline to sideline to assist.

We had a light ILB class in 2016. And when players leave early for whatever reason, there is a chance that we will enter a season with a lot of hope for the guys returning. If the goal is to move ahead of Bama (they stop the run better than anyone), we need more than hope.
