So, would Saban and Bama allow themselves to be called out in national media - even if it is somewhat of a call-out - or would they tell them to frick off?

Anyone else in the SEC have a realistic shot besides Bama? I know UGA is on the outside looking in. Doesn't UF have a slim chance too?

I'm on the fence on this one. I think if I'm in Smart's shoes I can't pull the trigger and give him a scholarship at this point. Really going to be tight on numbers for this years recruiting class due to more guys sticking around than expected. I agree that he's *earned* a scholarship, even with some pretty big deficiencies (kickoff depth has been atrocious), but I can't envision a scenario where he could be given one prior to getting the 2017 class sorted out. My thought is he should be first on the list for scholarship come summer/fall (even if that means not renewing Frix's scholarship that was granted for the 2016 season) once any transfers, dismissals, etc have happened. It's not ideal, but it would be the best balance IMO.

Good God, I wish they would just get the death penalty already for everything they do that everyone knows they're doing, but just haven't gotten caught yet. They have elevated cheating to an artform.

While I agree with what you are saying and the sentiment....unfortunately, we live in a world in which, oftentimes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Most people would do the same for their kid.
Again, I don't like it, but that is the way it is. If he doesn't force the issue, some schools/coaches (Not saying we or Kirby fall into this category) thinks they have a reliable kicker at virtually no cost, and go on with the status quo until their hand is forced.
