following up on a previous post about how our class stacks up against others of recent memory. Here are the top 2 ranked classes (rounded to nearest number) in 247 going back the last 10 classes.

2016- 301, 295
2015- 309, 308
2014- 320, 299
2013- 319, 303
2012- 310, 296
2011- 299, 296
2010- 324, 311
2009- 291, 286
2008- 295, 291
2007- 310, 301

For comparison sake, Bama/OSU/UGA are as of now sitting at 308/300/291. To put that in perspective our unfinished class RIGHT NOW would have challenged for the #1 overall class two of those years, and we're far from done. Bama and OSU could potentially end up shattering some of those numbers, although there were a few ridiculous classes in that time span. Just want to point out that our class will end up being one of the best in the last decade, despite us finishing no higher than 3rd this year.

In an interview, Poole III states Gibbs told him he made his decision. He didn't tell Poole III where he's going, but Poole thinks it's UGA.

I'm friends with an ex-UGA player and we got to talking about the O-line for next year. I asked him what he thought about Ben Cleveland since he's had a year to redshirt to get ready. My friend stated that his teammates like him as a friend and want him to produce on the field but that he cries in his dorm/apartment after practice. Any truth to this? Not sure why but I couldn't stop cracking up when I heard this thinking of a big 300 pound lineman crying in his dorm

A lot of guys get emotional. They've been dominating for years and now the game is hard for them.

I coached a guy who plays in the NFL now and once a season I had to put him on the headsets to talk to him from the box to calm him down. Dude would just lose it emotionally.

Simmons would then end up committing to bama. Yet somehow, by some miraculous divine intervention...he ended up here. Hmmmm maybe saban in fact doesn't get everyone he wants.

Saban does what it takes to land the players he wants. Kirby learned from Saban. And it is showing. Kirby just needs to go land a helicopter and have tucker pull up the Gibbs school in a Bugatti.

My all region kid that's at the rising senior game this week I had to do that a couple of games this year. He was mostly upset with teammates that didn't care like he did.

I played with an OLineman that threw up every day after practice. Every. Single. Day. It's a very physical game and more so on the lines. When you are dominating at the high school level and you don't dominate anymore it can be very humbling. Add to that, that a lot of teammates can be pretty rough on you, and he is going through tough academics, home sickness....it's tough on a freshman, in particular. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out it is the truth. But, if it is the truth, people have to be worried. Often, those are the guys that pack it in and go home.

A guy I played with in high school went home after his freshman year of college because he was home sick. He was one of the meanest guys I ever played with.

The kid's from Toccoa too...not far from Athens at all. If he is really that messed up about his situation I feel for him. That has to be miserable.

I couldn't wait to get to Athens..my first year I don't think I went back home until Christmas...

It can be miserable for some. And I am only guessing. It could be just the stress and pressure of college football. I saw a kid I played with have one bad practice. We were freshmen, and he was already second string. Because of the bad practice he was bumped down to third string. It tore him up. He felt like he couldn't make a mistake and started playing timidly. Messed his head up, bad.

Clevelands experience is actually fairly common for most college students let alone college athletes. Making a ton of life changes at once (leaving your parents, making your own decisions, being challenged on a whole new level mental and physically, etc) can be a lot for some guys. He'll be ok, just needed time to settle in and get used to life

If he is buried by depth after this recruiting class I say move him to the Dline and let him frick some people up. He is too good a DGD to let him rot on 3rd string.

Yes which can exacerbate things even worse. Spring semester, everyone knows what they're doing already. Guys that are already there have already gone through a full season and Fall camp together, students in your classes have already gone through the ringer once before. It can be pretty lonely for some guys.

Cleveland will be fine. Most people who never played OL or DL don't understand how difficult it is to master the footwork, technique, and mental part of the position(s). Until you really get that down, you cannot play fast because you have a ton of shite running through your head that isn't 2nd nature yet. It can make you come across as soft or slow or timid. It's god damned difficult. It might take 1, 2, even 3 years but he will eventually be very good for us.

Yes...and athletes can't fall back on booze, drugs and whores to get through it....or at least not as much as the average freshman.
