Yeah...just read that and his comment about losing "leverage" if he commits early.

Leverage for what? Extra cash? Guarantees of playing time that are worthless once he signs? See who can send more texts to him?

We currently have the #3 class, only behind 2 teams who are going to put up all-time level elite classes.

I think we already know how good he is at this.

He's already beaten Saban on many recruits, including Isaiah Wilson.

Interesting article on ESPN this morning. Basically saying that Gibbs already has his mind made up.

“I have my mind made up already. They just fit in with the five factors I was really focusing on. Every one of those factors was checked off. My family knows and they are on board with my decision.”

I don't follow recruiting as closely as a lot of people here but I'm curious as to what happened with Gibbs and UT? This time last year wasn't he a UT lock? Was it just the disappointment of their season?

Maybe he wants to be more than a "Champion of Life"?

Don't think anything really "happened". UT was always in his top 5, but I think he just fell in love with UGA and Kirby. Now Bama supposedly has a girlfriend of his at school and he is somewhat close with Dylan Moses so, naturally, they became the nearest contender for him. However, according to some at 247, he is pretty inseparable from JR Reed who is on campus in Athens.

I know these are 18 year olds and they don't make the best decisions all the time (applies to anyone who has ever been 18, not just these recruits), but if a big time prospect bases his school choice on where his current girlfriend goes, I question their decision making abilities in life.

Even if she's at Bama?? How could It be a bad decision to play ball at Bama ?? One couldn't go wrong with either uga or Bama. It's his deal

I never once said going to bama is a bad decision, obviously they're on top of the world right now.

What I said was, basing your college choice (one 4 hours away at that) simply on the fact your CURRENT girlfriend goes there is stupid. They're going to break up within a few months anyway. I imagine the number of extremely good HS football players who stay with their girlfriends they met in high school and end up getting married is less than 5%, if that.

Technically, we beat Bama for Wilson. But technically, they already have 2 tackles committed equal or better than Wilson in just this class. There was 1 recruit like this in the last class.

If we had Bamas OT from the 16 and 17 classes, Wilson probably would have gone to Michigan.

Bamas current class had a lot to do with Kirby's success head to head with Bama on Wilson.

I don't remember Saban landing a helicopter on any other recruit we were going head to head with's football field.

It's not everyday we go head to head with someone bama needs..Gibbs would play at bama neXT year. May not start, but def crack the 2 deep.

We didn't beat Saban for wilson, we brat harbough.

I thought he pulled that at Tyler Simmons and Rochester's high school last year and we beat him out for both of those.

No he wouldn't.

I like gibbs, hope he comes here. But unless you're a minkah fitzpatrick type that is just so far head and shoulders above all the other elite 5*s they have on their depth chart you aren't going to play much as a TFr in that defense. And gibbs isn't at that level.

Hell, it'll probably take a while for him to actually start HERE, considering who all we have currently.

If mecole didn't play this year hardly, then Gibbs will sit as a freshman

Not true, Mecole had to learn the DB position because he played QB in HS.

That's true. I was basing it off of being a 5 star athlete at DB, but you're right Gibbs instincts are probably more refined as a Senior in HS
