You have to realize that recruiting deals with 16, 17, 18 year old kids. Teenagers aren't exactly known for their sound decision making skills. From reading stuff on 247 from all the beat writers, Rice almost committed to Smart this weekend, but then it seems he woke up this morning and picked LSU. There are cases of recruits picking a school or cutting a school because of dreams. Kids are dumb and make rash decisions, we all were that way at one point. I think we recruited Rice about as well as anyone could and it just didn't work our. Thems the breaks in recruiting; you can do everything right and still lose a kid to another school.

I am a pessimist on things like this until proven otherwise. I want to believe, but I've spent too many NSD run ups being mildly disappointed in our whiffs

I think Rice told some media publication recently that if he had to decide a week ago it'd have been UGA.

I was thinking the same thing. I would lay just about any amount of money that he stays put though, unfortunately.

In hindsight, I'm glad Michigan didn't beat OSU and get into the playoffs. Would've given them a lot of momentum, IMO.

The harbaugh to LA rumors did start over the weekend before the Fisher news dropped. Hopefully there is some fire to the smoke and it becomes the talking point. Could help us get over the line with some recruits.

Agreed. My impression was that Hayes was not a take if we thought we were landing one of Wilson or Leatherwood. Not an expert on the total number we can take this year, so please correct if I'm wrong

I think Hayes and Wilson are both takes, they are both day 1 starters at Tackle, something we desperately need.

Maybe if we'd actually landed one of them before he committed, but there's no way UGA could risk not taking him unless Wilson or Leatherwood was a sure thing. We would still sign either of them if they wanted to come. The total # is flexible for elite players.
