Coach Smart visited McEachern yesterday. Met with our current commits and Tyler Simmons.
Coach Saban there today to meet with Simmons. My buddy who still coaches at MHS posted a photo on FB of them in Hockmans office.

So with Pruitt going to Bama I'm guessing that really hurts our chances with Mecole. He has said a few that he wants to play for Pruitt, also it probably locks up Shyheim Carter for Bama.
It sucks but oh well like others have said we will lose some guys but also gain some new ones

Why the hell any athlete would want to go to a school mainly to play for Pruitt is beyond me. This fall he will be coaching at his 4th school in 5 years. Odd's are he won't be coaching at Bama when Mecole's 3 years are over.
But Mecole was also quoted saying Alabama was already in his top 3 before Pruitt to Bama broke because "their defensive scheme plays mostly man coverage which suits his strengths better"...I wonder when he'll realize that Alabama scheme is being ran at Georgia now

Definitely helps Bama and with Mecole but we still have a pretty good shot if only due to proximity

Haha that's a good point

“I’ve been feeling Alabama, anyway, but with him being there, that just made my feelings a whole lot better,” Hardman told SEC Country. “Coach Pruitt is a great coach and I’d love to play for him.”
Another factor that may give Alabama an edge for the U.S. Army All-American; he has made it clear that he thinks the Crimson Tide holds an advantage in one key area.
“Defensively wise, Alabama is the best fit for me because of the schemes they run,” Hardman said. “They play a lot of man. I think I fit that scheme perfectly.”
Hardman is expected to announce his commitment on National Signing Day.
So Mecole, Alabama is the best fit for you because of Kirby Smart's defensive scheme? Close your eyes and think about that statement again

Call me crazy but i'm not as worried about Mecole not coming as I am about Eason or an OL. He reminds me of Tramel Terry in that he's a smallish guy who is a do-it-all for his HS but what does he translate to in college? Don't get me wrong i'd love to have him and see what Kirby could do with him as a DB or whatever position he would actually play but I don't feel he's a make-or-break type player. The 2 guys I hope we pull in that could be huge are Ben Davis and Mack Wilson. The LB corp would be insane with depth if that were to happen(not that our LBs have been bad). I also am glad big Julian Rochester is coming because he is going to be great in the middle with TT.

Mecole is the least of my worries right now. Need offensive help in a hurry and I fear the repercussions from when Rocker leaves

If JR is still coming, really the only rocker repercussion would be not getting Brown, right?

Hard to say. Could effect Michail Carter and Tyler Clark

Still a pretty big repercussion if we miss on him given that he's basically been ours for the taking. No guarantee we keep Tyler Clark or land Michail Carter either

I think he's a Dawg. He's had 3-4 different coaches in High school, so he should be used to it

I agree, Mecole is what 5'10?? I know there have been some great DB's that size, but he just doesn't scream 5 star to me they some of these other guys do.

I think Mecole is really talented. The Tramel Terry comparison isn't really fair to me because I think Tramel could have been really good had he not gotten hurt. I would love for Mecole to end up in Athens, but I don't see that happening now. My hope is that Pruitt creates some of the same hiccups at Bama that he did here.

I think a lot of the hype around Mecole, though, stems from what is perceived as an ability to play both ways at a high level. I think he'll be a good, not great DB and an excellent skill player on the offensive side of the ball. Combined, he could be one of the better players in football if he is able to remain healthy

I think he still likes UGA as well, so it's not like he's a lost cause. At the end of the day, he is a 5'10" 175 pound athlete. We could start a thread by itself to name all the similar guys who didn't live up to the hype.
He could very well be one of the good ones, and I would rather him get the shot at UGA than somewhere else, but if he is a casualty of the coaching changes, I won't lose sleep over it.
