If Big Julian loved Richt and UGA..he's going to HATE Grantham, Petrino, and the fans at Louisville. I hope we don't lose him though, he would be great on that DL with TT and Derrick Brown(if he comes).

name one great QB that DID play in the SEC
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the SEC has the most current NFL starting QB’s in the NFL (Eli, Peyton, Cam, Stafford and Cutler). If you look at the mix of QB’s, numbers indicate the SEC currently has produced the best starting QB’s.
quote:
These are the top tier QBs in the NFL today. ONE played in the SEC. Name me one good reason why a top QB would WANT to play in the SEC?
Again, the SEC has the most current starting QB’s in the league.
quote:
That's 5 out of 32 and a couple of those are barely starters.
Who? An injured Peyton? The same one who Kubiak assured would take back his job when he returned? Stafford? On pace again for 4,500+ yards? Eli? No. Cam? Undefeated. Cutler? The Bears have no top line talent, yet he has the a game under .500.

What exactly is your argument?

I wonder how much of this is these guys shopping around and how much of it is Kirby giving them a call, or having one of the assistants still on staff call these guys and say...look around if you want, you may not be a fit for coach Smarts defensive philosophy and there are probably going to be some "adjustments" to this recruiting class.

Guys want a back-up plan.
Bottom line is that our class will probably look a good bit different in two months. Just part of a coaching change.

I suspect if we lose D recruits with Smart as head coach it might be a "mutual decision".
I also suspect that once Kirby starts hammering these kids we'll do OK holding this class together. Especially if we keep Pruitt.

I've given up hope on Pruitt staying. Who knows for sure, though? I imagine that around noon-2pm on Sunday, all hell is going to break loose on news for the hires.

Actually, we are tied for second. (Better than I thought, though, and that counts Peyton Manning)

Again, No.

Again. We do not. We are tied for second behind the PAC12 and ied with the B1G.

As much as I like Peyton, he is finished. have you seen him play this year? He is MAYBE a middle of the pack QB right now.
quote:
Stafford? On pace again for 4,500+ yards?
Because he throws the ball so much. He is a good QB, but in the NFL he is still not in the top tier.
Peyton is barely a starter if/when he comes back. My guess is he retires after this year. Eli? No. Not a very good QB. Cam? Seriously? he is not undefeated. The team is. The defense is the backbone of Carolina. Cam doesn't get in the way. Although, he is showing signs of going improving and becoming a pretty decent NFL QB. Don't mistake the record/accomplishments of a team with how good a QB is. I can name several pretty bad QBs that have won Super Bowls, and Dan Marino never won one. SURELY you wouldn't argue that Theisman or Doug Williams were better QBs than Marino.

Do you consider him a great QB? Top tier? Would you take him over Brady, Luck, Rodgers, Brees or even Wilson? If you were drafting a team today which of those QBs would you pick Cam over?

Yes and yes.

I hate the guy but he is playing well. Doesn't change the fact that kids seem him up for MVP and he's from the SEC

If you had to win a road playoff game in the NFC, Eli is probably your best option to do it. He takes a lot of heat but he comes up big in big moments.
As for Carolina, their defense is great but they also are one of three NFL teams (New England and Arizona are the other two) averaging over 30 ppg this season. Newton does a little more than "not get in the way" for them.

Cam is better than every QB in the league this year other than maybe Brady and Rodgers.
He's clearly been better than the other 3 guys you listed.

Without their defense, Carolina is a .500 team.
Cam Newton's completion percentage is 57.2%, good enough for 29th, just above Blake Bortles. Cams passer rating is 89.5, good enough for 19th. Cam has 2466 yards passing, good enough for 20th. Cam has 20 TDs, tied for 10th.
If this guy wins MVP or is even mentioned, it has nothing to do with performance. The only reason this guy gets to act like an idiot running around the field acting like Islamic version of superman is because Carolina is desperate for fans.
Carolina's defense is world class.

I'm not a big fan of QB rush numbers, but he is averaging around 40 rush ypg and has 7 rush TD this season. He's also money in short yardage situations and has been all season. Don't kid yourselves, he's a HUGE reason they are where they are right now.
He has a lower completion % because Carolina takes a lot of shots downfield.
Anyone see their winning drive at Seattle earlier this year?

Leaving rushing out of the equation is nonsensical. He will never put up the passing metrics that the other great quarterbacks do, but the value he adds in the running game is a huge part of the equation.

He does have 7 rushing TDs. No kidding aside, he is a freak athlete no doubt, but he by no means deserves the MVP. The stars on that team are Kuechly and Thomas Davis.
I saw the winning drive where there was a busted coverage on Olson for the TD pass.

I see the Recruiting thread has been hijacked to talk about NFL QBs...
