Guys on the Auburn board don't seem too happy with Trent Thompson this weekend.

I hope they kept TT away from Godwin & I honestly don't know why TT was even invited. After this year we'll never hear much out of him. I watched his game on ESPNU and was not that impressed with him. He better do a lot of work in the offseason to drop the baby fat.

If I was Jackson, all I would need to hear is that UGA is the much, much, much better academic school and that a degree from UGA would make me more competitive in the job market. We consistently have the most scholar football athletes and LSU consistently has the fewest scholar athletes. No brainer kid, commit to the G.
it baffles me that Vandy isn't a powerhouse considering theyre the only school in the league that offers a truly world class education. UGA and FLA are nice but Vandy can offer limitless possibilities. If they ever get the right coach and some more funding they could be a monster. It would sell itself to recruits

Realistically, 5*'s like D.J. etc. don't think that way. They think they'll spend 10yrs in the league, make $60-70 million & be set for life. We all know it don't work that way, but you can't tell these entitled, told they are the best ever, kids anything...

Dallas is right. If recruits cared, they'd all be majoring in pre-law and finance.
Are you really baffled by this?

What game on ESPNU is he even talking about? Didn't he play in the Allstar game on NBC?

Yes
if I was a parent and had a kid being offered a full ride id tell him/her there's no way in hell youre wasting your golden ticket on LSU, Auburn or Ole Miss. If you blow your knee out you need a solid backup plan. Not that those schools aren't ok but you wanna put yourself in the best position to be competitive if the football thing doesn't work. UGA offers a nice balance between the classroom and the field. Equally as baffling that Auburn IS a power

To be fair, that's not all recruits (not even the majority). Most of the kids know what's what and just hope to have a shot at the NFL before moving on with their lives.
And, to be fair, the ones who are short-sighted enough to believe they're going to spend Peyton time and make Peyton money in the league are the ones surrounded by parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, etc. that tell them they're going to do that. It's often less about the individual kid and more about the home environment.
Judging by the way Jackson and his sister have been acting, I don't think this is going to be an issue for them. If they come to Athens, they made a good future decision. If they go to LSU, they're making a good decision for family and friends to be nearer to them while they go through the process, and even then an LSU degree is still a college degree with value attached.

Wasn't even talking about DJ in particular, just the 5* mentality that's out there in a lotta these kids...

Uh, do them war buzzards not realize that Godwin is also at Auburn recruiting for the Dawgs?

Godwins mother said nice things about AU so they think they are in this to win it. They think Godwin is theirs.

They had him at a 35% chance to sign with them
Posted on 1/18/15 at 5:13 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
Well to be fair, 35% is pretty much an admission that he is not coming at this point in the game. The sites just put a umber on it so that they can generate more hits which is where they are able to get their real money from. It is what it is in this business.

35% is closer to a coin flip than 0. IMO, they don't understand Godwin has done more visiting than any committed UGA prospect in recent memory. They aren't special here.

quote:Just got off the phone with one of my inside sources, only have two total so I don't claim to be in the know very often. But that being said, if Montravius A. was Michael Orr, my source would be Sandra Bullocks character. Evidently according to her, he told TT that coming to AU was a huge mistake. MA was told by everyone around him that he would be a fool to transfer when he is starting, never know what can happen elsewhere. She didn't know anything about him ditching TT, but sounds like something an unhappy teen would do.
I hope they kept TT away from Godwin & I honestly don't know why TT was even invited.
I posted this awhile back.
quote:
I realize that this might not be recruiting related per say, but my cousin dates a women who is very close to Montravius Adams. She is a mother like figure to him, but anyways, she just told me that he is miserable at AU. He joined them because he liked Rodney G. so much, but lately they have been butting heads very hard. He said he wished he would have picked UGA, and that he might pull a Jarvis if things don't improve quick.
The quicker he transfers the better! Thought y'all might like to know this. Go Dawgs !!!
He will be staying put unless he can get kicked off the team, at AU he would have to shoot someone in public to get the boot.
MA's disdain for AU directly affected TT's official visit, which inturn soured OV's for a good percentage of recruits.
So MA

Montravious is one of the kids who left the Dawgs at the altar. No way in hell he gets a release to go to UGA. He'd likely need to do a turn at JUCO so he's unrestricted. Wish he and Kamara (along with a few others) would've thought their decisions through before NSD.
