How many spots are going to be there by signing day and how many more will open up?
We are finishing the season with 77 recruited athletes on our team, 8 spots open.
Two OLs leave the team. 10
Two dbs will transfer 12
14 seniors are a lock to leave. 26
If Kolton leaves, 15 seniors, so add one = 27
Gurley and Floyd, who needs another year to build up his body for the NFL, will leave. 29
Mitchell may leave also, though another year here, playing a full season for a change, and performing like Amari Cooper, would bring him up to the second or third round. Leave now and he is a five or six rounder.
Say Mitchell or Jenkins leaves early. 30
Then, there are always academic casualties, guys who can't stop smoking weed or mouthing off to a coach or professor, and guys who finally see they will never have much of a role on the team, and figure we have room for 31.
Also, we have room for up to 6 EEs to be counted back to the 2013 class due to the fact that we signed a couple more than 19 in 2013, but only got 17 into the school. 6 EEs plus the usual class of 25 equals 31, again.
We can receive commitments from 31 who qualify to get in. We can receive more commitments than 31, provided that some guys with academic challenges or other issues that would cause to be unable to get into school
We can reasonably receive a total of 31 qualifiers.
So even if we get Sweat, Huggins, Walker, et. al., all seven of the guys listed above as possibilities to sign with us, which would be a total of 32, that would be OK...
At least one of 32 signees would be bound to be a non-qualifier

It wouldn’t be a surprise if I knew...
But seriously, UGA is going hard after some big time targets. Luckily, Sweat and Huggins announce early (I don’t believe we land either) so we’ll have some time to re-evaluate other prospects. If I recall correctly, late in the process we went after Tavin Ross, Nate Brown, Dominik Sanders, Isaiah McKenzie...I expect to more of the same this year

I think we have a solid shot at Huggins. I think Sweat is VT bound, but I can also see him at fsu.

Think we come up short for Sweat. I think Huggins is ours to lose. Just don't see how after all this time he hasn't picked Clemson when he should have/could have and still winds up choosing them after Vasser decommites from UGA. Just makes sense for UGA.

Not to change the subject, but is anyone else concerned that we don’t have a top CB in this class? Is it implied that Godwin will end up on that side of the ball?
I’m a little alarmed because the attrition at that position the last 12 months. It looks like Shaquery Wilson and Dandre Baker are the only 2 CB’s committed, neither are highly ranked. FTR, I’m not a stars guy, just pointing out the obvious. I tend to follow recruiting closely, but am I missing something?

I think Godwin is given his shot at WR first.
I agree that it's a little disconcerting but all the reports out of FL are that Baker is a beast at CB and highly underrated. We'll also (probably) add Martin to the list before too long. Jarvis Wilson was hand picked by Pruitt, but I have no clue how much of a project he is. I really wish JJ Green was sticking around.

IMO CB recruiting is a lot like OL. No way to truly project a guy. Look at 3* Dominick Sanders who will likely end up a 4 year starter at Safety for us. Jarvis Wilson and Shaq Wilson are both big sized DBs and Baker is supposed to be a stud. Not ruling out a potential flip down the line, either. Still a long way to go til NSD.

Are we still after Rico?
Any chance we get him?

Pruitt just had an in-home with him last week. Still pursuing. Family seems to have their heads firmly up Bama's arse, though.

I agree. See Wiggins, Shaq

If we can land Briscoe, too, I'll feel a lot better about our CB recruiting. I feel like both he and Baker are guys who could potentially help out as freshmen.

Also after Justin Martin. A 6-2 Juco corner that can absolutely fly.

Especially since Jackson is pretty much a goner.

He was able to visit LSU during the year more due to proximity. Now that the season is over and visits are restricted LSU won't have that advantage anymore.

News to me too. Last time I checked UGA was still in the lead. Rusty said a few weeks ago we don't need to worry about CB recruiting. We'll have 5 in this class and they will be very good.
