No wow cause I thought he was a lock to UGA after he got his offer
They took Picou to get him. Austin is really good, but not enough to do a package deal for him.

Josh Sweat
"We got there after a 7-hour drive and it was pretty nice," said the 6-foot-5, 236-pound Sweat. "It was one of the top campus and we did a tour and saw the stadium. I like the coaches and they made me feel really comfortable. I got to talk to a few players but I didn't really get to hang out with them very much. It was a really nice experience and I'm glad I visited.
"I got to talk to the coaches," he said. "They like me and want me to play there. They were telling me that the people there are really nice and that's a big part of it for me because if I'm waking up down there for the next few years I want to be around nice people."
After spending some time at Rocky Top, Sweat headed further south to Athens to check out the Bulldogs.
"It looked just like it was in Virginia with all the trees," Sweat said. "They had a really, really nice facility. They had a lot of new things but it was pretty much the same deal with Tennessee. They had a nice coaching staff that made me feel like I could be there. I have to talk to a couple more players because they were having a practice when I was there so I couldn't talk to them very much. For them to say they were comfortable around their coaches says a lot.
"The coaches were talking to me mostly about building their team because they have some new coaches," he said. "I have faith that they can build their program back up. They were talking about their recruiting class and how they can build. They like to be around players with good personalities."

here's the one for 247
Sweat, the nation’s top weakside defensive end, traveled to Tennessee on Thursday.
“That was my first out-of-state visit,” said Sweat, who's ranked the nation's No. 2 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class. “When we first got there, the coaches met us and showed us around some of the facilities and the stadium and all of that. They made me feel pretty comfortable. I liked the coaching staff. They gave me a good glimpse about what I could expect if I went there.
“I got around most of the campus and I saw the fields and the dorms, most of the buildings and everything. I saw a lot of the campus. It was good.”
While on campus, Sweat spent the day with the Tennessee coaching staff and met Vols coach Butch Jones.
“They made me feel like I could help out the program and help them get a lot more wins," Sweat said. "That is basically what they were saying to me."
On Friday, Sweat stopped at Georgia for a few hours.
“As soon as I stepped on campus, I saw it was a real nice area,” he said. “To me, things have to be nice because outside of football I would still have to live down there, and it was looking nice. The whole players’ lounge was really nice, the coaches were good, and I liked talking to them, and they made me feel comfortable. I got a chance to talk to some of the players down there, and they made me feel like I could get along with the coaching staff, too.
“The campus was really good. Everything was nice, the streets looked nice and it didn’t seem like there were any bad people around, and it was something I could wake up to for the next couple of years.”
“Coaching-wise, I liked both schools," Sweat added. "They were both great."
Sweat, a rising senior at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va., only has visited three schools so far in his recruitment, having previously visited Virginia Tech as well as his recent trip through the South to Tennessee and Georgia. But he doesn't seem to be in a rush to visit any more in the coming months.
“I am not sure," he said. "I might go one or two more places, but then I will probably shut it down. With (Nike's) The Opening and my football season coming up, I don’t think I will do too many more visits

Looks like it may be between the VOLs and UGA

VA Tech is clearly the #1 team for Sweat. I know Radi tweeted out a few weeks ago that UGA was in a good position, but he is going to be a tough pull. IMO, it’s a long shot he ends up at UGA. I’m not getting my hopes up

VT vs UGA with UGA leading. It is not nearly the longshot you think it is. He really likes UGA and had a great visit down here, we are in a great position for him.
Honestly, if he doesn't visit FSU and it does come down to UGA vs VT, he'll be a Dawg.

I am always a little bit stunned by any 18 year old with a choice, choosing to live in a place like Tally or Auburn or Tuscaloosa, but then again, I guess money and sex can make any place livable.

Just curious, what is this based on? Everything I’ve read is VT and FSU, with UGA having an outside shot

Radi of Rivals tweeted out a while ago that UGA was his leader (if I recall correctly) and there may have been a 247 article on it as well. I've never heard it out of the kid's mouth, though, and he gave almost identical, generic comments about both UT and UGA in a 247 article I read today that recapped his weekend.
I think we'll push extremely hard for him. We need Beamer to retire and UT to finish 5-7. I've not read anything about FSU with him. Not saying the material isn't out there, I just haven't read it.

He likes UGA, a lot more than it seems many people realize. We are his childhood favorite, the school he grew up rooting for and that is a hard thing to discount when he is making the effort to visit on his own dime with is parents and is putting in effort to get in touch with our coaches even when they were slacking off and not on him yet.
Sweat doesn't do many interviews or anything and so it is hard to get a good read on him. He has said some good things about VT, but until this past week, it was the only school he had visited. When he does do interviews, he sounds like Edoga did towards us when talking about VT. As though he is saying nice things while looking for reasons not to commit there.

As far as FSU goes, it sounds like he will not even be giving them or Ohio St an unofficial so until he gets on campus for FSU, I can't consider them a serious threat.

I hope you’re right and I can come back here and say I was wrong, but I’m not buying him to UGA. His family is very pro VA Tech

If anybody here has a 247 membership, you should go check out the VT board and read the post in the Josh Sweat thread on page 6 from their moderator.

Not really. It's not like VT is close to Hampton Roads

The last article I read on 247 as a member a few months ago had excerpts from his dad about VA Tech. There were some strong comments in favor of the Hokies. And yes, 5 hours is a drive, but it’s no different than a recruit from Valdosta loving Georgia. Like I said, IMO, he does not come to UGA. Strictly a feeling at this point, nothing concrete whatsoever

Care to paraphrase for us poor people?

VT staff thinks it's VT vs. UGA
FWIW the reason for optimism is that Josh grew up a UGA fan

I hate giving out info that's contractually not supposed to be given out, but I'll say this:
He liked one visit of the two southern schools the best and the school he liked the most doesn't have orange in the color scheme. It seems to be a two team race at this point. The obvious choice given his home state and his favored southern school.
