I'm not mad at the staff. They didn't drive Tunsil away. Tunsil turned heel within one vist.
ETA: For those that don't know, Lowndes seldom posts and is the closest thing to an inside man you'll find on a message board. Like, this dude has some position in the AD. If he suspects Ole Miss is up to no good, then you know the staff expects it and is probably being forced to back down. We won't pay guys or offer siblings and SO's scholarships just to get someone on board.

Lowndes 25 said - it was over - Tunsil to Ole Miss unless something crazy happens this weekend. Said you can figure out what happened with out having to spell it out.

Goddamnit, not Lowndes, too. If he says it, then it's typically true. I guess I'm done being Disney for the day.

Yep. Time to shift our attention to Adams, Foster, Kamara, Liner, and Toby.

Freeze is one of these charismatic Swinney type HCs. He got a few breaks and built momentum on it. Just because hes doing what he's doing at at a piss poor program, no need to degrade his effort
We should me getting ALOT more mileage out of almost beating Bama in the SECC, having one of the top offenses in the country, and being in contention again next season. We're not. Might as well DWI. as usual

The why even have the signing day announcement? Why build up drama for a done deal? Also, I hope that senior portrait of Tunsil in the UGA sweater haunts him for the rest of his life.

Funny you should mention those two in the same sentence...
Clemson is certified dirty as all hell. That's first and second hand testimony, too.

Ya, rumor is that Ole Miss offered schollies to the GF and brother (didn't know he had a brother). That's a bummer if true.
Good news is that we didn't lose any O-linemen this year so that's not the position of need. Sure he is a dynamite prospect, but he is going to a team that we won't face in the next 3-4 years. On a more positive note, we have the potential to grab Liner, Foster, MA, Bellamy, and Johnson to plug all our holes/depth. I still plan on punching the first Ole Miss person i see, even if it's a baby.
Recruiting is fun to follow until you get your heart broken by 18 year old after 18 year old. Prom Night all over again

It's common knowledge at this point that Ole Miss offered half of Tunsil's family a scholarship that they wouldn't have gotten without being related to him. I'd consider that doling out cash/improper benefits. How are they getting away with this so publicly?

IMO Tunsil isn't looking for attention. Like RF, he was looking to please as many people as he could, Ole Miss read that and gave him the perfect scenario to do so, and he jumped on it no questions asked.
If I were him, it'd be hard to do. But I don't know that I'd be able to talk to either Richt or Saban and tell them thanks for your 2 years of effort, but I just met Hugh Freeze a couple of months ago and he' letting me bring everyone

Because the NCAA is a paper tiger. A toothless rattle snake. If it weren't for moral principle, I'd say UGA should do it too

No, it's common sense. Step back and look at the whole situation. It is almost not even believable that this could happen in a legitimate manner. I'm sure people wondered why the hell mississippi state was in cam newton's final 2 schools..of course now the answer is obvious. And it's the same shite that's happening with LT.

You mean his cheating? Our coaches haven't been outworked by anybody the past 2 weeks. Short of writing a blank check, there's nothing we could've done more with Tunsil that we haven't done the past 2 years, other than maybe scheduling a visit later on or something. Either way though, when one team is paying and one isn't, that's usually game over.

Uhhh yeah, we are. There's a reason that 24 fricking HOURS ago it looked like we could close with LT, adams, liner, foster, bellamy, maybe kamara/thomas, etc. The fact that we lost Tunstil overnight should make things perfectly obvious what's happening.

Damn... I hope Wednesday doesn't turn into a bloodbath for us...

I hate defending MSU, because they have some annoying posters. but this same thing happened with Chris Jones, only he got a brand new truck apparently. And not to mention the Treadwell pic...
Posted on 2/1/13 at 3:21 pm to WG_Dawg
Not sure if anyone watched the recruiting show on espnU yesterday, but treadwell (the no. 1 wide receiver) who also committed to ole miss, was getting slammed for posting pictures of stacks of hundreds after leaving his OV at Ole Miss this weekend. It has now been deleted.

I think what pisses me off more than anything about all this is that now in addition to auburn, clemson, and tennessee for sure (and potentially a few others like bama) we have yet ANOTHER school that is completely ok with paying players or giving schollys to everyone they know to get them to sign. It'd be one thing if it was just one rogue program like AU that was doing it, but when half the schools you're recruiting against do it it makes it that much frickin harder.
Posted on 2/1/13 at 3:36 pm to WG_Dawg
What pisses me off is the incredible guilt trip Ole Miss' staff just laid on Tunsil if the scholarship story is true. How can you possibly expect him to not act in the best interest of those closest to him? In fact, if he turns Ole Miss down, he is actively hurting them.
Much worse than just waiving a stack of cash in a guy's face, in my opinion.

As mad as I am, I have to admire Ole Miss willingness to sell out to the fullest extent to get the top guys on campus. Its a little impressive from a neutral vantage. If you're gonna go balls to the wall, well, I guess actually go down the top 247 list
