It was Tennessee

quote:

“Tennessee is right there, though, and they had their in-home tonight,” Bellamy said. “It was their last hurrah at trying to get me, and it went well. Coach (Tommy) Thigpen, Coach (Steve) Stripling and Coach (John) Jancek were telling me I had a better opportunity to get on the field at Tennessee than at Georgia. They said Georgia has a lot of players, though, so I do not want to be stuck behind anybody for four years. Tennessee said I could come fresh with a new program and lead their team over the top.”

Desperate programs recruit desperately. If I were a recruit I would ask Jancek why UGA fired him?

No word from Grantham or Richt about these rumors fuels this fire.

In an earlier interview, MA said that Grantham told him personally what was up with the NFL talk. If he's smart, Bellamy would call Adams and get the story.

While his decision seems a little more difficult to make, Bellamy still maintains a sole leader for his signature.

“Nothing has changed, and Georgia is still in the lead,” Bellamy said. “The only thing holding me back from going to Georgia is trust. The more we converse, the more trust we build. There are rumors that Todd Grantham is going to leave after signing day, and if that happened, that would be devastating.”

That possibility has led to Bellamy and the Bulldogs’ coaching staff agreeing on somewhat of a verbal pact, which includes a special code word of sorts. “ We have this little slogan we use for the trust we are building,” Bellamy said. “It is 'longevity 17,' and that is basically me saying if Grantham is there and I can wear my No. 17 next year, then there is a strong chance I will be a Dawg. Now Coach Grantham says it every time we talk.”

Monday night, Bellamy went out to eat with the Georgia coaches, and each side spent time discussing their personal lives. “Coach Grantham, Coach Mark Richt and Coach Bryan McClendon and my mom and I really had some bonding time Monday,” Bellamy said. “My mom opened up to Coach Richt about family, Christian values, and about losing her parents, and Coach Mark Richt opened up to her, as well.”

quote:

The Volunteers are chasing Georgia for Bellamy, and they made a push for the four-star prospect Tuesday night.

Bellamy can see himself having success at either Southeastern Conference program. “The way I see it, I could go to Tennessee and be that guy on their defense,” Bellamy said

Bellamy on Richt & his mom....

quote:

Richt charmed Bellamy’s mother with a long conversation.

“It was me, Grantham, and McClendon at another table,” Bellamy said. “I couldn’t hear everything, but I definitely heard my mom say some things she doesn’t tell a lot of people.

“They really hit it off. My mom really opened up about some personal things. They had a deep discussion about God, family and life. They talked about spiritual things.”

“It was really good because, right now, everything has been said about X’s and O’s. Right now, it is about trust.”

Richt closed the deal IMO....

For all the flack Richt has taken the last couple of years he hasn't wavered once on his values for himself the university or the team. I have a ton of respect for a man that stands that strong against what had been thrown his way. Carry on cmr carry on!

Richt definitely knows where a recruits bread is buttered. According to Radi at Dawgnation:

I received a text from Kamara, who says that- "Richt and McClendon are going to see my mom at work first, then coming to my school, after that they will be at my house at 8:30 tonight for the in home."

Richt sure is making sure the Moms of these recruits see him on every visit. He is always a hit when the mom has a major say in a kids recruitment.
