There's a lot of info and misinfo about the new signing rules, but what I've heard is that we can backcount a LOT of players.

Demarre Kitt is essentially letting it be known on twitter that he will commit soon.

I think you'll see a class in the 30-32 range...and wel'll have room for all of them.

Tony Parker is delaying his decision. I think that works in our favor; guy on Leatherhelmetblog who claims to know Parker or a relative says UGA is the team to beat for him right now. I hope he's right because Parker is a BEAST.

How many can you actually take? Cant you only backcount EE's?

You have to admit, it's kind of ironic that your coach lobbied the hardest against oversigning, and know he's in desperate needs for players considering the constant flow of washouts.

and yeah, a class over 25 would be unprecedented for Richt but I think he realizes that he needs to build quality depth and stop saving scholarships for walk-ons. Maybe being on the verge of getting his arse canned has helped Richt out...who knows? Perhaps I'm being too optimistic.

Richt is against the oversigning like HDN did at Ole Miss when he signed 32 or 34 players but didn't have enough room for them so he had to essentially run some players off. With the current attrition, seniors, and juniors expected to leave early, we'll have about 30 or 32 open spots that we'll have to fill. We only signed 19 last year and 3 of those were EE kids, so we could in theory count as many as 9 back this year and we have about 8 or 9 committed right now who plan on being December grads.

i mean it isn't evil, if richt and co has any reservations they are retarded. this is merely meeting a quota that due to many circumstances is increasingly large. i bet UGA and UF both go 30+, that is if they are smart

Yeah, but Richt likes to be the nice guy and hand out scholarships to the walk-ons that work the hardest...it's a nice gesture but we don't pay him 3 mil a year to be a social worker.

He was making about 2.6 or 2.7 a year before any bonuses or what-have-you, so I figure he'll probably get a slight raise to the 2.8-3.0 area and it will be an extension until 2015 (that part has already been announced). Richt's agent likely pushed hard on the buyout due to the temperature of his seat recently and it's probably pretty steep.

Even with the suspensions we should come out of the first 4 games 4-0, 3-1 at the worst. @USCe, @Auburn, and UF are the next toughest matches (in order), and I really think we can win 2 out of those. 9-3 will likely placate our fan base but 8-4 with our easy schedule could see his seat start to get a little warm again. 10-2 or 11-1 basically ensures that he'll be here until his contract runs up.

That's a nice way to spin it.

Richt is notorious for being an apathetic/lazy recruiter, so it's obvious why he doesnt meet the #'s when it comes to filling up a class. Richt's also notorious for being extremely lax when it comes to disciplining, and instilling fear of getting in trouble, hence all the arrest/failed drug test/bad grades.

When you combine those two it's blatantly obvious why UGA has so few players on scholly. But if you want to play it off as "good guy Richt wanting to help out the walkons" then by all means do so.

I'm not even going to respond to Don...he clearly enjoys getting rises out of people.

I agree that 9-3 with our schedule should be unacceptable but a lot of people won't see it that way. With a bowl win they'll see another 10 win season and be okay with it. They won't see the fact that we lost 75% of the games against teams with a pulse.

Draper, it sounds like you read message boards and really have no clue what you're talking about. It's mind boggling

Wait, did someone just say that Auburn and Clemson were trying to convince recruits that UGA wasn't a good academic institution..

Anyway, looks like we'll land Vonashek tomorrow after he talks it over with his folks. On LHB one guys said we told him he could play OT, TE, or DT, it just depends on what happens when he gets on campus.

I also think we land at least 2 on G-day weekend.
