Which Toby Johnson are we after? Espn has one from college park, rivals has one from Kansas. Kansas one is a 4 star.

UGA is after the DL from Hutchinson, the JUCO in Kansas. Toby is originally from Banneker HS in Georgia though.

Can you give me the whole story on this? I remember the scandle but I don't think I know all that much about it. TIA.

"Flunkgate"
quote:

During an NCAA investigation after O' Leary had left Georgia Tech and Chan Gailey was the Head Coach it was revealed that the Georgia Tech football program used ineligible players while O'Leary was head coach. These infractions were due to the deficiencies in the school's academic administration who had incorrectly accounted for student-athletes credit hours and were not attributed to O'Leary or his staff. The initial requirement that Georgia Tech vacate the performances of the football team for games in which these ineligible players participated was overturned on appeal. Further, Georgia Tech was placed on probation and lost scholarships because of the violations

They tried to play it off as some type of clerical mistake.. Whatever was going on, it eventually stopped. I remember a year under Gailey that something like 13 players were found academically ineligible imo, the school is not fcking around anymore w/ questionable student athletes.. and when I mean questionable, I mean not fit for college whatsoever types.

Are you?

Crispy, no, JUCO isn't an abreviation for an injury, but ACL is. Am I the only one paying attention here or what?

This was discussed before and it is only a partial tear if I remember correctly. Think he will be ok. That is, if we are talking about Toby.

In any case, watch your sass pup. You're a newbie around here

You're the only one complaining about us trying to get the #1 JUCO recruit, who happens to be a game changer at a position we'll strongly need next year. So yeah, you're coming off a little retarded.

Is there a firm prognosis on Toby's return to the field? I know that he was saying himself that he might have a RS in his future, but he's okay with that if the coaches are.

Due to the fact that there was only a partial tear of the ligaments, and the surgery went great; Toby has stated that with strong rehab he could be ready for fall camp. It is a possibility only at this point, but with medicine today I like his chances to be able to play next year. Lets just hope its in Athens!

Fla. Scout insiders board is saying Eddie Gran for sure & possibly Dameyune Craig going to Cincinatti to coach with Tubberville...

Anybody at FSU we'd have a shot at if this is true??

The boy is damaged goods. No, but really, there has to be some merit to other teams backing away after the injury. Maybe there is a RS season already in mind assuming Geathers stays. Still have Mayes and Atkins to hold us over. I didnt know Toby was the top Juco, so Im interested to see the rankings.

Yeah Toby provides too much upside to not take a chance on him. The injury is not as bad as first thought, and he may be ready for fall camp. We can afford to take a chance. At worst he'll provide great depth for two years.

We also need to have a fair amount of JUCOs in a class this large to keep balance in future class sizes.

In other news, RF is back down in the high 230s weight-wise and appears to be in much better shape. He was around 255 this summer and has lost a lot of explosiveness.

No one has backed off of him because of his injury.

This.

The only team that has remotely even come close to backing off is Tennessee. That is only because they had no head coach. I fully expect Butch Jones to start recruiting him again soon, but I still like UGA's chances with Toby. No matter what any dissenters may say, Toby is a difference maker and could be ready in the fall. To say anything otherwise is just a product of being misinformed.
