That simply isn’t true. First of all we have only played ONE average P5 defense (Arkansas) and even they are 43rd in adjusted defensive ranking. Every other P5 defense has been elite to good.

We are #15 in total offense, #17 in adjusted offense and #21 in offensive efficiency. We have played the #2, #3, #7 and #22 adjusted defenses in America already and will play #1, #9 and #11 before the year ends. If those numbers hold we’ll have played the toughest defensive schedule anyone ever has since the Massey adjusted rankings system has been in use.

Against the four teams in the top 22 we have already faced, we are averaging 23 points and 410 yards per game. Those 4 teams give up an average of 304 yards and 17 points per game.

We have played an incredibly difficult defensive schedule and are still a top 15-20 offense.

Good point.

We’re a better team right now than State and Auburn and almost every objective metric from conference play so far supports that. They will be tough games but losing both would constitute a pretty big disappointment.

Objectively, at the start of the season 8-5 for Jimbo's first year was a reasonable assumption, and I see no reason to change that now that we're 5-2, with exactly the losses predicted so far.

We haven't won any games that we pegged as probable losses so far, or done anything that should make us think "this is a 10 win season". Yes, Auburn and MSU look weaker than in years past, but they are playing the same teams we are (minus Clemson).

Put the Koolaid away, we are in the EXACT situation that everyone predicted we would, back in the pre-season. And all the predictions were that we'd be 7-6 to 9-4.

Didn't he have a pick go right through his hands that would have effectively killed the comeback?

That sounds familiar. I honestly have blocked out a lot of that night. I just remember everyone in the car saying frick it let's go to Mcdonalds and torture ourselves with terrible food.

My thoughts too. While Jimbo has done a good job and we’ve already seen some changes in culture, toughness, and more, this is still a team of primarily players that Sumlin recruited and developed.

8-4 is not a bad result for Fisher in his first year here and trying to transition the program into his own, anything better than 8 wins is just icing on the cake. So to be talking potential CFB playoff right now is putting the cart in front of the horse.

And if I had a few bucks for everytime I opened a thread on Texags or here in late October/November these last few years about how “LSU is having a down year, or is too one dimensional in running” or whatever and how we are finally going to beat them, I’d be a wealthy man. Just like the Arkansas win streak, you have to assume it keeps happening until it doesn’t.

But in the preseason nobody expected Kentucky to be a legit top-15 team that’s going to win 10 games. And a lot of people pegged us to lose all three in this current road trip and we’re 1-0 thus far.

And I would argue that stretches against Bama (still by far their closest game) and the Clemson game showed flashes of a potential 10 win team. Those two teams are going to finish 26-0 combined and we looked like we belonged on the field with them.

Yes

We actually dropped two picks in the last 10 minutes.

I’ll also add that we’re a missed 35 yard field goal away from being ranked in the top-6 right now.

For a half against Bama, and Clemson is going undefeated in the ACC, but would finish 3-4th in the SEC.

Jimbo is playing the way he is because he recognizes the weaknesses of our team, and is working games away from those weaknesses. Part of that is reducing the number of plays on the field in total, and especially vs our defense. We're exceptionally thin in several areas, and not having to sub is part of the plan (I'm sure).

If you're consistently doing one score wins though, what that means is you're consistently in situations where 1 broken play or one int in the 4th quarter turns into a loss. We've rolled the dice and come up well every time this year (except Clemson) but we are bound to get a bad hand at some point, and likely a couple.

Yeah.....this is why we don’t put the cart in front of the horse.

Jimbo still has a lot of work ahead of him.

Putting the cart before the horse doesn’t matter one little bit for fans. We have no impact on the games.

My OP was simply a statements of facts and was entirely accurate. Us losing the game doesn’t change that and I never guaranteed we would win.
