I'm sorry but I don't see it. The guy is 3-11 against top 10 teams. People keep saying he won't have any recruiting restrictions, but he was already recruiting top 10 classes and not getting it done. He shits the big stage and is an absolute uptight a-hole who seems miserable when questioned (and guess what LSU fans are known for?). He also has feasted on manageable schedules that were filled with easy schools he could beat, but not drown his Strength of Schedule.

I don't get the love around him. I really don't. He's not a bad coach, but he's not the guy that's going to be beating Nick Saban or Kirby Smart. At best, he peaks like he's done at Notre Dame. At worst, the tough SEC schedule exposes him.

Any claim that this was their guy is a complete lie. This is a dream for us. Would rather have this than them have Aranda.

Just enjoy observing them living in their fantasy world.

Overall I think its a good hire. There doesn't seem to be many good coaches available unless you outbid one that's at a program already.

I'm not completely sold on Kelly however. I saw his team play live this season against UNC. I couldn't believe how

1. Terrible the pass rush was
2. Unable to stop QBs from running, and while on desgined runs.

He will probably need a top notch DC

Good hire for them from a media pundit perspective but I’m wondering if he moved any needle for recruits. Let’s be real recruits nowadays are about the glitz. Around here (setx) I’ve never heard anyone awestruck by him. At 60 will he be energetic enough to build the relationships to pull those elite players? As I’ve said in a few posts....the timing of everything is great. Texas sucks and is viewed as a joke, OU could be headed back to the lean years, and LSU has a tired old midwestern coach. It’s a great time guys.

Thoughts on the Kelly hire?
I think hes fine and will win games. But hes not a homerrun that they were promised and probably isnt someone that is really going to make them on the same tier as bama or georgia

The problem is there is no freaking way they will accept putting up with an a-hole like Kelly who is a complete cultural disaster that DOESN'T win. If he wins all is well of course. If he is going 8-4? It's going to get very restless very fast but they are stuck with a monster contract.

Now you could say the same about Jimbo I guess but Jimbo IS a great cultural fit and a tremendous recruiter. A&M is also more patient. It's also of course being ignored that Jimbo HAS won a NC before and Kelly HAS NOT.

We will see.

Those guys have averaged over 3 losses per year since lord Saban led them out of the darkness 20 years ago. That’s including those outlier years such as 2019. They are delusional to think they are on some different plane. Saturday’s debacle has just given them fodder to throw shade.

Meh hire, better than the caveman they just fired but to call it a homerun is a bit much. His regular season record is padded by playing a baby shite soft schedule in a historically down era for teams like Michigan and USC. His record in big games and against top 10 teams is so bad medium game Bob would laugh at it. Not sure how a smug yankee that doesn't like to recruit is going to beat out guys like Saban, Kirby, Jimbo, and Dabo recruiting in the South but I guess we'll see. Faulk and Raymond will continue to get plenty of in state talent on campus, the coordinator hires will be huge. I don't see the offense he ran at ND winning in the SEC consistently. If he stubs his toe in year one and two the melts will epic, patience isn't their strong suit. I see it ending badly, one thing I will give him is he isn't afraid of stepping into the fire against the best teams in the country even if it was a money whip hire.

The ACC in that era was pretty solid. VTech was decent. Clemson was rising. Miami had a few decent teams. FSU also played Florida every year.

More importantly Jimbo beat an SEC team for the Natty and he is much better in NY6 games.

Other than that though I guess they are kind of similar?

He won't do terrible in baton rouge but I have a hard time seeing him doing great. I've heard recruiting for him is an issue and there's of course his lackluster performance in big games. But who knows, he could do great. I guess that's the gamble every hire though.

I have enjoyed trolling the shite out of LSU fans.

Yeah I think Jimbo is a better recruiter, Kelly a better offensive coach. Overall I think they’re a similar level of coach. Kelly will put together a great staff as well with the resources LSU has

I’ve never seen a fan base scramble to rationalize getting rejected by their top choices as much as the longhorns….until now

I don't think it's a bad hire. It will be interesting to see how he does with better talent. It will also be interesting to see how he does dealing with the behavior of that talent.

Hey buddy

Kelly’s used to players that are fringe Ivy League material, wait until he’s in a “team vote” situation
