R.C. Slocum: After the 1998 season, Slocum is given a giant raise and extension. He proceeds to go 29-19 and get fired after 2002.
Dennis Franchione: After the 2004 season, Franchione is given a giant raise and extension. He proceeds to go 21-15 and get fired after 2007.
Mike Sherman: Receives a 7-year guaranteed contract before coaching a game. He then loses 5 games at Kyle in year 1 before going 25-25 and get fired in 2011.
Kevin Sumlin: Receives a massive extension after the 2013 season. Proceeds to go 28-20 and get fired in 2017.
Jimbo Fisher: Receives a massive extension before the 2021 season. TBD how terrible a mistake that is.

No, it’s the curse of not hiring a winner.

Jimbo needs to let Dickey run the offense or get a new OC and allow them to run it. Wouldn’t hurt to have a new O line coach either, I was never a huge fan of the Henson hire

Jimbo Sherman will never cede playcalling duties.

It's also the curse of not having enough high quality QBs on the bench. It'll bite you every time when you lose #1.

What about not playing your backup QB during blowouts?
Example - Up 42-17 on Arkansas after 3 in 2020 with Arkansas having zero chance of coming back, Mond played the entire 4th quarter.

That's hurt the Aggies I agree. When you don't blow out the lower tier competition to allos some field time for the backups that also crimps your program. So I hear from the talking heads Calzada just did not look good. Do you now turn your multi-gazillion dollar program to a preferred walk-on? Nothing against Bost. It is where we are. It will be better next year if we sign out class as it's shaping up.
