I’ll give him credit for the talent that’s been assembled this year. But at this point coaching is the limiting factor.

This team should reach elite eight with an average coach.

We talk a lot about where our football head coach ranks nationally as an attractive job, but I wonder what it would be for basketball. I doubt we’re even in the top 50.

Got mad all over again just thinking about it.

God I hate bad basketball execution.

Let's examine that a bit. First, I'll start by breaking down the current top 25.

1. Villanova: Basketball school. Football program is FCS

2. Michigan State: Basketball school. Football has its moments, but basketball is king here.

3. Arizona State: Football school. This is the first really good basketball season they've had.

4. Duke. Basketball school. No explanation needed.

5. North Carolina. Basketball school. One of the top 5 basketball programs of all time.

6. Miami. See Arizona State. They've been good in basketball 2-3 times, but they're a football school.

7. Kentucky. One of the top 2 basketball programs of all time.

8. Texas A&M. Football school. Third A&M basketball program to show up in the top 10 (2006-2007, 2015-2016, present)

9. Xavier. No football program. Basketball school.

10. West Virginia. This one I can safely say is fairly close. Probably 60/40 football.

11. Wichita State. Another basketball school. FCS football team.

12. Gonzaga. No football team. Basketball school.

13. Virginia. If I'm being honest, this is probably a BASEBALL school. They've been below average in football and average in basketball.

14. Kansas. One of the top 5 basketball programs of all time.

15. TCU. Football school, but Chris del Conte's hiring of Jamie Dixon is paying off.

16. Purdue. Basketball school.

17. Oklahoma. Football school. Even with final four appearances, they will always be football first.

18. Arizona. Basketball school.

18. Baylor. Women's basketball school. They've never won anything in football or men's basketball.

20. Cincinnati. Basketball school. Even with the 12-0 season under Brian Kelly, they're a basketball school.

21. Tennessee. Football school. Barnes is doing a good job, but it's a football school.

21. Texas Tech. Their only somewhat major national championship is in women's basketball. Even though Bob Knight coached there, they are still a football school.

23. Seton Hall. No football team. Basketball school.

24. Florida State. Football school.

25. Creighton. Basketball school. No football team.

If I were to list the top 20 basketball jobs in no particular order, it would look like this. Keep in mind, each one of these programs was put on the map by one particular coach.

UCLA (John Wooden)
Kentucky (Adolph Rupp)
Kansas (James Naismith)
North Carolina (Dean Smith)
Duke (Mike Krzyzewski)
Michigan State (Tom Izzo)
Villanova (Rolle Massimino)
Connecticut (Jim Calhoun)
Arizona (Lute Olson)
Maryland (Gary Williams)
Florida (Billy Donovan)
Louisville (Denny Crumm)
Wichita State (Gregg Marshall)
Illinois (Lon Kruger)
Indiana (Bob Knight)
Gonzaga (Mark Few)
Syracuse (Jim Boeheim)
West Virginia (Jerry West)
Oklahoma (Billy Tubbs)
Kansas State (Bob Huggins)

After that, everything else is fluid. Usually the better the coach, the more attractive the program.

Whoever is hired after Kennedy leaves (for whatever reason) will either deliver A&M a championship or fall flat on his face.

There is no chance in hell you would have ever let anyone hear the end of it if they had tried to call last year's victories at Missouri and LSU quality wins.

I really doubt he leaves us unless it's for retirement or a UNC/Kansas/UCLA type of job. We stuck with him after his diagnosis and terrible first 4 years. That should buy us loyalty. Plus, I think he's said in the past this was the destination job he wanted. Low pressure + terrific talent within 200 mile radius.

If he does leave us, then him. Our administration gave him a chance when anyone else would have fired him.

Kennedy’s here til he retires. We don’t deserve him and should consider ourselves lucky.
