Based on the talent level and how the first 1/3 of the season has gone, its hard not to consider A&M when talking about SEC contenders. I would put us as 2nd to UK at this point, but I could see any of the top 4 winning the conference.

Melvin Watkins about to extend his losing streak at Reed to 13 games. Hasn't won there since 2003.

Discussion: Im not trying to pump false hope or nothing but I think it would be safe to put in an early prediction for A&M and Vandy to be the teams to beat this year. How do yall see the Fightin Aggies in SEC play this year?
I think everyone's going to be keeping an eye out for Kentucky to see if they'll gel, but we have the horses to finish 1st or 2nd in the conference. The scoring draughts/stretches of undisciplined offense (poor coaching) still worry me, though. Those are the sort of things that will get you beat by a dark horse on an off day (like, say, LSU).
Still, we'll be able to simply "talent" our way to contention, which is the first time we've been able to say that in quite awhile.

With the talent on this team, when they are unselfish with the ball and move on offense they can be outstanding. When they stand around, they stink.

Yup. Gotta find ways to play as a team ad they'll go far.
And Jones is BALLIN!!!

Good stuff good stuff. Yeah you never know when it's just going to click with Kentucky and they always seem to find a way, frickin Calipari. I guess I haven't watched enough Aggie bball this year because right now they look miles away compared to what Im watching my Tigers do. That LSU team has absolutely zilch of direction or urgency and all we kept saying is even Johnny Jones can't frick up that talent, riiiight. I will not be shocked when we miss the tournament. The Vandy game tonight will tell us alot. Who's next for the Aggies?

Two game road trip coming up for us playing @ State and @ UT.
As for clicking with Kennedy, I'm not sure that's ever going to happen. It's frustrating to watch sometimes--more of our success seems to be due to having quite a few seniors on this team (notably Caruso and Jones) who guide the youngsters on the floor through their experience more than anything. I'm just not convinced he's necessarily coaching our guys up as much as pointing talent in the right general direction.
What's up with LSU basketball? Haven't watched any of y'all's games, but I hear nothing but good things about Simmons on ESPN, but the team seems to be up and down. Is it a coaching thing or a talent thing for y'all?

I haven't watched every single game so I will learn alot tonight. But basically it's as if LeBron James was playing a pick up game with 8th graders on his team. He's noticeably the best player on the court but doesnt have the proper efficiency around him. It's really how they decide to show up. The loss against Houston we couldn't play dick of defense and the loss against Wake Forest we couldn't score for shite. I'll be able to make more sense after tonight. As you can see I am not very knowledgeable on the game of Basketball.

Hey, it's all good! The analogy with LeBron and the 8th graders is a pretty keen observation for someone who doesn't watch basketball much
I'd suggest picking an NBA team to follow along with LSU. The differences between the college and pro game can be stark, but also gives you an appreciation of the talent level/execution at each level (although it'll probably make you hate watching LSU bball that much more, fair warning
I've had a hard time watching TAMU flounder while the Spurs play their brand of basketball recently).
Hopefully Simmons finds ways to make the players around him better. Even if his production goes down some, getting some consistency in team output would go a long way, I reckon.

If I told you two years ago that Sumlin would be on the verge of being terminated and Kennedy would have tricked the fanbase into thinking he was a great coach, how many would have bought it?
