So does the TCU game and several others. I don't hear any bitching about those. Our hand sign came from the TCU game.

That's a good point. Maybe we could trade off playing tu and TCU at Thanksgiving every year.

It's an athletic event between two schools... You are entitled to your opinion and if you think it is more or as important than Muster or Silver taps or any other unique part of A&M because it is older (which is what you are implying) I can't or don't need to convince you otherwise. I am sorry that something that means so much to you is lost.
I personally hope it never returns. But that is my opinion and I don't see it as anywhere in the same universe as unique A&M traditions. They were our football rival although they deny it and they are now our recruiting rival. They HATE and ridicule A&M and everything to do with it.

Muster and Silver Taps are far more meaningful. Bonfire "maybe," especially since the Collapse. But I always thought Elephant Walk was a bit silly, so I would rank the t.u. game above that one in importance.

Exactly!
Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.

Are you saying as a fan of TAMU I notice it more?

You don't notice when they run other old commercials.
Actually I do, but I will admit I really like this one, which is why I was glad to see it back on. The problem is of the old ones, it is the only one still on AND it did not run for quite some time (say the past 2 years) which is what made me wonder.
I have not seen the Memphis and Louisville one, or the Michigan and Ohio State one where the guy jumps out of the car (loved that one too) or the Trick or Treat one for Southern Cal or the paper macche one for UNV vs Duke in ages. All those rivals are still running yet, poof, they are gone.

I wouldn't read into it more than that.
Yeah, again I see that, but why now, and in such volume, when none of the others have surfaced yet either. The halloween one would be the one to run now as it is already seasonal AND it is for a current and ongoing rivalry.
ESPN, Never Graduate series UCLA vs USC 2007
Taco Meat was 2007 as well
Ohio State vs Michigan had 2, but this is the one I remember UM vs OSU 2007
Would link the Line Beards and Dook but they are Taco Meat to me.

FWIW, I was out all day. Sat dow for about 15 mins and they have run it again twice including just now.
Posted on 10/8/14 at 3:58 pm to Cheese Grits
I've never seen it FWIW

I'm starting to think that Hank is just a ridiculous troll

I usually have one of the ESPN channels on in the background but if you really never have seen it click on the link labeled Taco Meat just a few posts up from this one.
Just checked and my TV is set to ESPNU which is even odder as the ad is run to sell you on subscribing the ESPNU channel. Why would you run ads for a channel you already get?
Right now they are running a segment on Watson Brown if that helps, but it is ESPNU.

Seriously?
They run that commercial on there because it's an exclusive package. They don't know if you're watching the channel at home or at a friend's house who has it or at a bar somewhere. Ads for the channel you're currently watching air on that channel all the time.

Fair enough, but bars and public places usually just have basic which means ESPN and ESPN 2
Still, that part does not explain why they are running that specific ad, that many times, while not running any others from that group OR running it now after long period of not running it.
Just makes me wonder why.

Good grief. All you've done today is complain about a&m. Enough already.

And guess what? ESPN/ESPN2 run ads for themselves on their own channels, too. Most channels do.

Not unusual for a network to run a retro successful commercial every now and then. It's smart marketing, as evidenced by the fact that we're talking about it right now.

I've always been completely open about the fact that I miss the game and want it back. I spent my entire childhood gathered around the TV with the family every year on Thanksgiving or the day after watching the game and I have very fond memories of the game.

At this point, I don't see any positives for A&M in playing the game.
That said, I'd like to see it return. The atmosphere would be insane.

I grew up going to on campus bonfire and the t.u. game. If we could play them in a vacuum, I'd be all for bringing the game back.
But you never play the sips in a vacuum, and there is no long term benefit to scheduling them. Let them meet us in the postseason if they're good enough.
They were petty enough to black ball us from their schedule when we were willing to keep the date open. I see no reason to give them any life now or in the future.
It's a shame the game is no longer played. Instead if regressing back to an arrangement that favors them, let's beat the hell outta our sec foes and see if sippy has the temerity to meet us after the regular season.
